The Joystiq Show - 010: Now Playing NY Comic Con
Oct 27th 2011 12:45PM (Joystiq)So let me get this straight.... you are now adding segments to the show that were in teh previous Joystiq Podcast that we were all clamoring for? Why not just bring the OLD show back, and do the NEW show once or twice a month? Would make everyone happy. Or are you satisfied with Pulling a Netflix?
The Joystiq Show - 003: Localization of the Damned
Jul 18th 2011 4:34PM (Joystiq)My fiancee dislikes most things about games, but she came to really enjoy listening to joystiq for its *soul*. The new show, while different, seems to have lost most soul. I don't think any of us would be upset if the new format had humor, jokes, and easy going feeling, and fun. More akin to sitting around a campfire with these Devs instead of these horrible almost seemingly patched together segments.
Its not the new direction i don't think any of us dislike, i think the sacrifice of soul/fun/normal conversation for seriousness and unpreparidness is the issue. I know they are putting a ton of work into booking guests and devs and stuff but the delivery of the information is what seems to be lacking. I KNOW other podcasts do what you are shooting to accomplish but they do it with the soul still in their shows.
I don't think most of us old listeners want CNN investigative game reporting over Campfire games discussions. The old show could have been about ANYTHING and the 3 of them would have found a good way to talk about it and make it fun and interesting, that was its magic.
Sometimes we forget they are journalists. The fanbase will adjust. I get that like some TV shows, cancelling while you are on a high is the way to go out, but with an hour a week podcast as popular as it was i just question the choice.
I also think that for those of us who thought that Chris is being too grumpy about it need to lay off a bit. Like I said before, I know I forget a lot these guys are journalists and not entertainers. As much as we loved how they were they may need a good break from it.
I think I will stick it out a wee bit longer to see how it develops but my yearning for an injection of some character is almost at its peak.

Jun 20th 2011 9:13AM (Joystiq)I will also be repealing my MBMBAM subscriptions and donations. While I truly love what MBMBAM was it as well is becoming more commercialized and Justin clearly is more interested in it than Joystiq. Sure it is his choice but it doesn't mean I have to support something I no longer care for.
I really hope you guys realize what you did and fix it. That said if you truly are sick of doing the old show maybe it should just rest in peace.
