Prinny: Can I Have an English Language Trailer?

Nov 8th 2008 6:45AM (Joystiq Playstation)
This is not connected to the trailer, but I just found out that Prinny has a third attack in the demo, he can do a bottom stomp, the same move that is used to activate checkpoints can be used to stun enemies and when you do you fill up combo bar and get more points. I was able to buttom stomp four enemies in a row without landing. This game rocks.

Hilarious trailer, one of the few ads that I would actually want to watch.

Crisis Core inches towards 2 million sales

Whoa, that's a suprise for me, I thought that DQ 4 sold better than CC all the time. Yeah, that would explain why there are so many awesome titles coming from Square Enix, it seemed weird that they were announcing so many high profile games while every other company ignores PSP.

I hope that Dissidia and other Square Enix titles will share similiar success. Honestly games announced by them are the main reason that keeps me from ditching PSP and getting a DS.

Sony gets the adhocParty beta started in Japan

I wonder which company treats it's clients worse. Sony trying to sell more PS3s using success of PSP or Nintendo making a handheld aimed mainly for casual gamers and kids changing their biggest franchises like Zelda PH and NSMB into casual friendly, that is too boring and disapointing for normal gamers, then when PSP starts selling better announcing games for hardcore players stating that they care for them now.

I'm not a fanboy of Sony, I just want to notice that every company tries to suck as much money from their clients as they can.

Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? coming to the US in February

You're right, it could be repetetive with only those two attacks, but games like Strider 2 show that you don't need new attacks to keep things interesting.

The spinning move makes you invulnerable while you're spinning, it's not too useful in demo and it takes some time for Prinny to start spinning, so you can't use it like a normal dodge, but I bet it will come in handy in boss fights.

Actually, I'm eagerly awaiting this game because I really enjoyed playing the demo, and if this game will be as good as demo is then it'll be one of my favourite games for PSP.

After watching the gameplay video I was disapointed, it seemed like a very simplistic platformer without any depth. But playing it changed my opinon, it has cleverly designed gameplay that is challenging and satisfying. I ended up playing it numerous times and getting the A rank on normal difficulty and B rank on hard. It's great that I'll be able to start torturing Prinnys in this gruesome quest for sweets so soon.

PSP is on top of its game in Japan

Nov 6th 2008 4:00AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Um, but PSP 3k haven't been hacked yet, so recent sales in Japan can't be so good because of that. Unless people are buying it assuming that it will eventually be hacked.

Prinny screens show new enemies and vehicles

Kiriko-san, my evaluation was based on the fact that what MATT said about controls in Prinny sounded like it was like in Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins, I finished that game and even though jumping mechanics are similiar and made platforming slightly annoying I got used to it and it didn't prohibited me from having fun playing that game. So I thought that they were complaining about how designers made jump mechanics to make the game harder.

But you're right it could be different in Prinny, I shouldn't state my opinion without playing the demo, so I downloaded it to see if it's really making the game annoying to the point where I wouldn't want to play it. And my guessing was correct, I got used to jumping at predefined distance quickly and platforming sequences were not a problem. Fights were much more of a trouble, because I didn't know behaviour of different food-monsters. Disgaea games always were difficult from what I've read and imao this design of jumping was made to make this game also difficult. It doesn't feel like badly designed gameplay, it forces me to learn behaviour of enemy and make jump attacks according to how enemy will behave just like in megaman, also jumping onto moving platforms requires good timing. Just like I stated before, it's nothing to complain about imao, because this is cool old-school design that makes this game challenging, without it gameplay would be too simplistic and boring. But that's just my opinion.

Imageepoch maybe working on a PSP title

Nov 4th 2008 10:21AM (Joystiq Playstation)
"Next year or next, next year there might be a really cool action PSP game." well that's some 'great' news - there is a chance that maybe they will make an action game and maybe release it in 2 years..., what's next? some company will announce that they are thinking about the possibility to think about releasing a game ? Couldn't they say instead that they will make a game if PSP will keep selling like it does right now in Japan ?

Prinny screens show new enemies and vehicles

So it's just just like in ghosts 'n goblins but without double jump. I don't see anything wrong with that, you just have to get used to it. If you simply remeber the distance that Prinny travels when he jumps forward you should have no problems with platforming parts. I guess that some people see it as archaic or clumsy controls, but for me who played and completed almost all megaman games for Nes, which were really difficult and reaquired a lot of precision jumping, it's nothing to complain about.
