Rumor: 1UP 'source' says Yakuza 3 is Westward bound

Sep 21st 2009 12:04PM (Joystiq)
Being a big Shenmue fan, I'd love to play this game, but it'd have to be ported to PC or 360.

ELSPA: Legal loophole won't delay rollout of PEGI ratings

Sep 8th 2009 4:42PM (Joystiq)
I'd prefer the BBFC to continue rating games. Their rating system is ubiquitous and well understood by parents over here, plus they're the only board I know to actually play the games they rate, rather than just watch videos like they do in the US. PEGI's a bit of a joke since the publishers rate the games themselves.

And apart from anything else... the BBFC's a British institution. More power to them.

Nintendo announces Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver for US

Aug 14th 2009 6:19PM (Joystiq)
I have to agree with the other commenters, what a bizzare and low rent trailer. But its content more than makes up for its shortcomings in terms of production values. The 3D engine's obviously taken quite a boost since DPP, that sequence with Lugia and Ho-oh looks wicked! Now if they'd only let you use an over the shoulder camera angle...

Nintendo announces Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver for US

For those of us that are paying attention, there were some fairly signifgant battle mechanic changes each generation. 2nd gen split special into special attack and special defence, introduced hold itmes, genders and two new classes; 3rd gen introduced the all-important EV system (although this is technically hidden to the player), double battles, natures and special abilities and finally 4th gen made the special/physical split for every type of attack, rather than just assigning special or physical to each type as a whole.

So, yeah, battling has changed a fair bit and the strategy has become quite a lot deeper since pokémon's inception.

Sonic Universe #6: The Unofficial Sonic Fandom Test

Jul 28th 2009 6:31PM (Joystiq)
Reminds me of "Sonic the Comic"! Used to be subscribed to that as a kid, it was great. Well, I thought it was at the time anyway! It's different to the one you're all talking about, I believe, and was only published in the UK.

Atlus explains why it takes so long to localize a game

Jul 23rd 2009 4:34AM (Joystiq)
You know, the thing that's really annoying is that none of that happens. You'd think given the time they had, they'd localize for all the spelling difference, but nope. I havn't played a single non-UK developed game where the spelling is actually changed for the UK.

Unseen64: Backbone made Mirror's Edge demo for Wii, PSP, DS

Jul 22nd 2009 3:29PM (Joystiq)
The thing that's always put me off getting Mirror's Edge is the longevity. I could see that game being over very, very quickly. A couple of hours maybe. I enjoyed the demo, but I could see that if you knew what you were doing, you could have it all finished in under an hour.

Dante's Inferno won't be burning on PCs

Jul 21st 2009 10:13AM (Joystiq)
There are a great amount of flat out ignorance in your post, but I'd say the very fact that you tried to play WoW with a gamepad makes you an idiot.
