Square Enix delivers Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep special edition to Europe

Aug 1st 2010 7:28AM (Joystiq)
What you all seem to be forgetting is that the UK is generally screwed over when it comes to game releases (and until recently that included by Square).

There have been occasions where we've had to wait up to and over a year for the same game that you have been able to play all that time. Yes if it's on PS3 we can import but there are restrictions for importing Sony products into Europe thanks to Sony attempting to block the import of countless PS3s when our console launch date got pushed back.

I think sweetening the deal for us is like an apology for making us wait so long in the first place.

Nintendo on the other hand still hate us, we rarely get new content and even now in 2010 we have to wait at least half a year for their games.

Namco hates everybody. *peeved about the new Tales game*

Microsoft defends Kinect pricing

Aug 1st 2010 6:57AM (Joystiq)
Just to add to my post; you can currently buy a preowned PS3 60GB from GAME for £164 (or thereabouts). So there's a £34 price difference between an entire console and some silly little add-on that has no games.

*waits for the jibes about the PS3 having no games XD**

Microsoft defends Kinect pricing

Aug 1st 2010 6:53AM (Joystiq)
As far as I'm concerned it really is a no brainer.

£74.99 for the motion controller, eyetoy camera and navigation controller (I know the latter is unnecessary but I have small hands and I would find holding the dualshock awkward) vs £130 for Kinetic.

Hrm... that is such a difficult decision especially since Kinetic has been nothing but a letdown ever since they announced it.

Besides it's MS. What's the betting we'll have another equivalent of the RROD with this thing?

The fact that MS even had the nerve to charge us £130 for it in the first place when it only retails at $150 in America is a joke. At least Sony evened out the price a little better between the two countries.

Is your Xbox 360 an E74 victim?

Yet another problem to plague the 360, oh joy ¬¬

I'm on my second 360. I bought my 20gb 360 back in May 07 and right from day one I had disk read problems. Unfortunately at the time I was playing games that had a bit of a reputation for producing disk read errors (Lost Planet for example) and simply put it down to that and the fact that most of my games were preowned and had scratches.

It wasn't until I got some brand new games with no history of disk issues doing it that I finally concluded there was something wrong but as it wasn't doing it EVERY time and it was long out of warrenty I simply left it and saved regularly. I got a new TV this year that didn't have the right ports for a composite cable and playing it on the scart made my eyes bleed so I decided to trade it in and spring for an Elite. Gamestation almost didn't take it off me because of something to do with the sticker beneath the faceplate; I've never sent it to be repaired, I've never even had the damn faceplate OFF and yet they thought it had been repaired at some point in its life ¬¬ whilst a friend of mine bought a 60gb model and it RRoD'd after a month.

I don't consider myself to be a fangirl of anything but I'd like to say that neither my Wii or my PS3 (the latter of which gets used a LOT) have had any issues, nor did my Gamecube, PS2 or PS1.

There is no denying that the high failure rate of the 360 is apalling (I mean hell! One failed at a bloody convention!) it makes me wonder whether Microsoft are selling more 360 units because it is more popular than the PS3 or whether it's just because of people who're buying replacements for their broken ones every 6 months because it's cheaper than sending it off to be fixed.

Fable 2 Collector's Edition now cheaper, less desirable

Ugh it's been reduced even further since they took out the Hobbe Figure and the cards. So far GAME.co.uk hasn't repriced the normal version so I'm keeping my collectors edition on preorder, they're the same price and I'll get a free sword and junk... ugh guess this means I've got to fiddle with my 360 to get the ethernet cable back in there... again ¬¬

I need a hub for all this 'download off XBOX live' crap.
