@Jack Kevorkian Don't measure the visuals on Nuketown, it's a very stylized map to reflect the atomic bomb test cities they build back in the day, so you get a very plastic look and feel, bright color schemes and even sparkles in and around the houses old commercials used to have. Other maps are looking just as great as the ones in MW2 if not better.

Well, Infinity Ward wasn't the first studio to add a couple of decades to a "past wars FPS series". DICE did it a couple of years earlier with "Battlefield 2: Modern Combat".

Component cables can output 1080p just fine, but most standalone high definition players don't support it, this however is a Hollywood issue not a technical one: See Analog Hole and AACS. Game Consoles are not limited/crippled by this, and therefore will support 1080p over Component if the TV excepts it.

After inserting the disc I usually look at the TV for quite some time, so I don't care how the box looks like if it's quiet. But yes, the Duke would be the more appropriate controller.

All users who were able to get into the NXE Preview Program got the update two weeks early ... that's at least what Kugelblitz (the German "Major Nelson") wrote on his blog.
