Swag Sunday: BioSwag!

Without a doubt, telekinesis!

Joystiq Podcast Holiday Funanza 2009

Dec 24th 2009 2:26AM (Joystiq)
Thanks a bunch! I originally made it for the JPAG, when I decided that I must share it with the 'cast.

It came to me with the realization that there's no good holiday-based games anymore. There are classic holiday movies and music that people take in every year at different seasons, why not games?

Swag Saturday: Final Fantasy spinoff pack (PSP)

Oct 11th 2009 2:28PM (Joystiq)
That's easy, I would either put my gaming goods on display or donate it to a gaming museum of sorts. If I had grandkids, though, I'd want them to experience the "good old days" of the 2600 and the NES.

Swag Saturday: Guitar Hero triple pack and bass pedal

My favorite rock n' roll moment was when I saw The Smashing Pumpkins on Dec. 7th, 2008. It was one of original drummer Jimmy Chamberlin's final shows with the band, and it happened at the Aragon in Chicago. The Aragon (which is actually a venue in Fight Night Round 4), has a beautiful rounded ceiling configured with lights to look like stars in the night sky. There are castle-like balconies on either side of the stage, with an awesome painting of a galaxy and such above and on the ceiling.

The quaint atmosphere reminded me of their video for Tonight, Tonight (which they opened with), and added to the whole show. They closed it with Disarm as a tribute to Billy's grandmother, who passed away the week before. I found photos of that night on Flickr, it kinda shows off the venue: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thesmashingpumpkins/3091153107/in/set-72157610821930827/

Seriously, best show I've ever seen, whether you're a Pumpkins fan or not.

Swag Sunday: Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii) [update]

Sep 20th 2009 9:08PM (Joystiq)
My favorite moment is a tie between the first time you encounter a Chozo Ghost in Metroid Prime, or the final battle with Metroid Prime in the first game in the Prime series. There was something incredibly epic about it, which only added to why I consider it in my top five favorite games ever.

Swag Saturday: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (360/PS3) [update]

In my quest for revenge, I would turn into Project Natal/Milo. I'd be untouchable.

Hacker claims The Conduit 'virtually unprotected,' easy to foil

Jul 16th 2009 8:14PM (Joystiq)
I interviewed the guy, and he really DID do this on purpose. If you use a Hex to ASCII converter, you'll see that he slipped "fuck you" into the code, as well as a ram editor that corrupts anyone's save file that uses it.

Yes, he DID do this on purpose. But he doesn't have a job with High Voltage. They're just using his information to try to cover for these problems.

Look up a few comments from here. He didn't get a job.

Hacker claims The Conduit 'virtually unprotected,' easy to foil

Hey guys, I was actually the one that wrote the original article and had the conversation with hetoan2 (I happen to read Joystiq as well).

Here's the thing; he doesn't have a "job" now. Instead, he was offered "cool stuff" (to quote an email from High Voltage) in exchange for the codes he handed over to them. Really, he's just cooperating with them. And while the hack was easy enough, I saw a ton of assembly code, enough to think that it wasn't something practically everyone would do.

High Voltage left the door completely open for hacking to happen, which is incredibly unfortunate. However, Nintendo may actually go through with banning cheaters from the Wii's Wi-Fi service entirely. And yes, people CAN change their MAC addresses on the Wii, but how far will they get without getting banned again?

The fact is, even a slap on this wrist to prove that Nintendo is getting serious about it will make the online experience better for everyone involved. If this gets big enough, Nintendo may actually grow up and make a solid online system the next time around, and High Voltage may actually think about security.

Joyswag regift giveaway: PSP-3000 Ratchet & Clank Entertainment Pack

Jan 2nd 2009 10:09PM (Joystiq)
The PSP-4000 will have internal memory and tilt/motion control.

It's an idea, although I totally doubt it will happen.
