Shame I say, SHAME! If you own a PS3/PSP, you can nab Xenogears off the PSN Classic store for a heck of a lot cheaper than you would be able to god knows where. I'd say give it a shot since the combat is fairly unique in both modes, they have a decent little 2-player diversion built in, and while the story is about as crazy as it can get, its pretty heavy when you start to understand a few things in it.

Barricading 'Dead Souls' within Yakuza's red-light district

Aye, he was my favorite personality-wise in Yakuza 4, the only thing I didn't like was how (in my opinion at least) every character that came next was more badass to play as than the last...! I mean, you go from someone with a few heat actions, to a guy with more heat actions and a penchant for smashing big things, to a guy with a heat action for almost every part of his basic combo, to a guy who has multiple heat actions JUST for standing still!

Itagaki's depression-fueled Armageddon/Aerosmith bender

@BPMOmega XBL PSN Steam

Not too surprising actually. Capcom has done it several times with some of their high-profile IPs. Hideki Kamiya had no clue Capcom was even making Devil May Cry 2 until an interviewer brought it up when discussing DMC 1 and releasing it stateside. They did the same thing with Resident Evil and Mega Man.

In a way, Itagaki is a little lucky, in that at least the game based off his IP that was released behind his back, was at least worked on a little by his own team, and not some second-rate team thrown together on the cheap.

Here are the PSP games that will work on Vita at launch [update: more compatible games spotted]

@NathanDTS
Nothing wrong with that either.
For me though, my interest in beating the game was drained before I even finished. The copy-paste final two fights came off as horribly lazy (and even simpler than before), and the utter lack of variety in maps discouraged me from completing any of the post-game missions.

That, and the absurd "credit" and resource system.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 a favorite? I loved the series (what little we've received), but Chronicles 2 was overall worse than the first. It certainly isn't a favorite of mine. It's a bloody shame Sega decided to let the series end on its mediocre note instead of what was apparently the much more realized and impressive 3rd title.

Guild Wars: The winds just keep on a-changin'

Feb 8th 2012 11:03PM (Massively)
Well! Here's hoping the earlier content does get a bit of a retuning. Going through these quests, it could be a bit of a torture I would imagine for those not as well-versed in how the game works. It doesn't need to be horrifically simplified, just toned down a little. Specially in the 4-man areas...!

Also, belated welcome to our new Guild Wars Columnist Overlord(ess)!

Man, Liam Neeson playing against Ron Perlman, with Morgan Freeman narrating.

And, as they declare attacks, we watch Jet Lii dressed up as a missile/red marker fighting Jackie Chan dressed up as a tug-boat.

@BrainZero

Sadly no, Double Helix is working on this game (which guarantees both truth and the game will fail hardcore)...
Now! If it claimed Activision had Blizzard working on the game, I would think it could be an April fools joke.

Mass Effect Infiltrator breaking in to iOS devices

Feb 7th 2012 3:58PM (Joystiq)
"Actions in Infiltrator can affect the larger Mass Effect 3 storyline, and weapons unlocked in the mobile version can be used in Mass Effect 3."

This should be read as
"Actions in Infiltrator will add two fluff background dialogs to nameless Human NPC 1 and nameless NPC 2, who is later revealed to be named Bob".
