I'd say its more in line of you buying a toy car, taking it home and adding a feature to the car that would then enable to get other toy cars for free. So yeah, I could see why it would then be in the toy shop's best interest to stop your modded toy car.

@Master of the Intangible I doubt it would incur negative publicity. The Other OS is different because it affected people that had not done anything wrong. Banning people who are running homebrew or even pirated games is different, the person being banned will have gone out of their way to do something to get them banned. Similar with Xbox 360.
