Oct 20th 2011 9:22PM (Joystiq)MW3 has so much content and value that Activision want to charge you $15 every 3 months for it. Oh, wait they changed that didn't they? $9 per month. Excellent.
Bottom line, BF3 and MW3 are two different monsters, the only thing they have in common is they both are first person, both have guns and you can shoot people. I'm pretty sure the 12 year old racists from XBL will be in both as well.

Driver: San Francisco studio head defends Ubisoft DRM system
Sep 3rd 2011 1:42AM (Joystiq)I use Steam on the PC, and I know it's a form of DRM, but Valve has always been up front about it. I don't pirate games, and I think it's extremely unethical, but I can see where people come from.
You could go a lot further fighting piracy by making decent demos available for people to try a game before they buy it. Look at the old Shareware model. Wolfenstein, Doom and other games exploded onto the scene and you got to play 1/3 of the game for FREE to see if you liked it. How many reported downloads of cracked games are just people trying your game to see if they really want to drop $50-$60 on it? That chunk of cash represents a full day of work for a lot of people.
Get over the whole "It-Costs-So-Much-To-Develop-A-Game" BS, because all you do is develop it for Xbox and PS3 then port it to the PC. It'd cost you nothing to make a demo.

Oct 4th 2010 11:38AM (Joystiq)True, but if you look at the other end, those games can all go on sale and still be profitable because those games have no media or packaging which would easily bring the profit margin down on the games.
I buy all my games on sale through Steam now, unless it's something I want on day 1.
