L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition coming to PS3, 360 this November

LA Noire is coming to PC, but Red Dead Redemption isn't? I want to die.

Battlefield 3 Xbox high-res texture pack explained

@MW49350

MW3 has so much content and value that Activision want to charge you $15 every 3 months for it. Oh, wait they changed that didn't they? $9 per month. Excellent.

Bottom line, BF3 and MW3 are two different monsters, the only thing they have in common is they both are first person, both have guns and you can shoot people. I'm pretty sure the 12 year old racists from XBL will be in both as well.

Driver: San Francisco studio head defends Ubisoft DRM system

@Lone Starr

Not everyone purchased these games knowing there was this DRM in it. Luckily, I knew it was coming and refused to buy.

Driver: San Francisco studio head defends Ubisoft DRM system

Sep 3rd 2011 1:42AM (Joystiq)
When I heard that they were including the always-on DRM scheme in AC2 (which was considered a day 1 purchase for me) I decided I wasn't going to get it for the PC. Then I realized that I wouldn't buy it for the Xbox either. I no longer contribute funds to Ubisoft in any way. It hurts a little because they have put out some games I really want to play.

I use Steam on the PC, and I know it's a form of DRM, but Valve has always been up front about it. I don't pirate games, and I think it's extremely unethical, but I can see where people come from.

You could go a lot further fighting piracy by making decent demos available for people to try a game before they buy it. Look at the old Shareware model. Wolfenstein, Doom and other games exploded onto the scene and you got to play 1/3 of the game for FREE to see if you liked it. How many reported downloads of cracked games are just people trying your game to see if they really want to drop $50-$60 on it? That chunk of cash represents a full day of work for a lot of people.

Get over the whole "It-Costs-So-Much-To-Develop-A-Game" BS, because all you do is develop it for Xbox and PS3 then port it to the PC. It'd cost you nothing to make a demo.

15 Minutes of Fame: The AFK Tavern, where everybody knows your name

Sep 1st 2011 5:55PM (WoW)
I've been planning on going to AFK for a while now, it's not too far from where I live. The location is in a pretty good part of Everett, basically on the corner of 41st and Colby.

Hey, yo, Valve. We put an ad in with your ad so we can get paid while you get paid.

He probably would have gotten a job if he only breached the network. Taking the files and distributing them was the wrong thing to do.

New Transformers, Spider-Man and more next year, Activision doing 'large-scale' Call of Duty

I just want to point out to all those that refuse to pay a subscription, you already do by purchasing the new title year after year. Same goes for Madden or any sports franchise.

I cancelled my sub with MW2, I didn't care for it or the $15 map packs. To each his own, I know a lot of people love the game.

Left 4 Dead 2 attacks Mac on Tuesday, Oct. 5

@sigma8

True, but if you look at the other end, those games can all go on sale and still be profitable because those games have no media or packaging which would easily bring the profit margin down on the games.

I buy all my games on sale through Steam now, unless it's something I want on day 1.

Left 4 Dead 2 attacks Mac on Tuesday, Oct. 5

Oct 4th 2010 11:23AM (Joystiq)
To the Mac owners that may not have this game yet, I say wait on buying it until the 5th because there will likely be a sale on Steam for it. Right now it's $19.99 for each L4D game, or $29.99 for both. Valve's been crazy and put games for sale at 50% off, like Team Fortress 2 is at right now.
