Give up a few minutes for Left 4 Dead's 'The Sacrifice' trailer

Oct 1st 2010 7:35PM (Joystiq)
@WackFiend

Good find! I hope OSX gets some L4D lovin'. Maybe now I won't have to wait so long to find a Versus game in L4D1 for a while.

Spiritual Guidance: The greatest Shadowfiend nerf (or maybe buff) of all time

Sep 1st 2010 6:09PM (WoW)
Priest healing has become unchallenging and dull. They were right to nerf our mana regeneration oh so long ago, and they are right to nerf it again.

Come on Blizzard, challenge me again!

PS1 designer on the fight for controller handles, what the button icons really mean

@The Tim

Their controllers are actually an evolution of the Dreamcast. A slight evolution, lol.

Microsoft fires off salvo of Halo: Reach pirating permabans

I thought that piracy was a PC exclusive title.

Magic: The Gathering on deck for Steam

May 28th 2010 1:59PM (Joystiq)
This game is good. Mostly for people that may have never played the game, or people that don't know the rules all that well. It gives a good representation of how Magic is played and the strategies involved.

The thing about this game is the lack of customization. You unlock new cards for your deck and new decks by defeating opponents. I look at this game as more of a stepping stone to the physical card game or MTGO.

I won't get it for the PC simply because MTGO is the full game that's not barred by limited options, but this game is great for the average person who hasn't played MTG or wants to learn. The AI of the opponents is decent and you can quickly find yourself losing in Duels of the Plainswalkers.

Two more Tom Clancy games in the works at Ubisoft

DRM: The Game

It's got a 6 hour campaign to try and access Ubisoft's DRM servers, and when you do, you win.

'Epic' StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty Collector's Edition announced

Apr 8th 2010 4:50PM (Joystiq)
I'm so sad that Blizzard is owned by Activision. I love Starcraft, but I'm at odds of picking this up to support a developer I love or sticking to my guns and boycotting all things Activision.

Decisions, decisions. I might need to seek a Valium prescription either way I go.

Ubisoft DRM authentification server is down, Assassin's Creed 2 unplayable

Mar 7th 2010 5:46PM (Joystiq)
I really don't like what I'm seeing come out of the video game industry as of late. There's so much effort going into fighting piracy that they are shooting themselves in the foot with the DRM issue.

Keys and disc checks never bothered me, but SecuROM and now Ubisoft's attempt at DRM is getting stupid.

I'm a multiplatform gamer, and I sometimes buy the same product for the 360 as well as the PC. It's not cheap to play games anymore and I'm going to be super selective of what I purchase for either platform in the future. Yes, if a game comes with stupid DRM for the PC, I won't buy it for the console. Same goes for big time publishing companies that like to treat their employees and developers like mindless sequel engines.

I own MW2 for both the PC and the 360 and neither version will be seeing a map pack.

Activision expresses interest in subscription-based Call of Duty

Feb 10th 2010 7:36PM (Joystiq)
Nope, not paying a subscription to play Call of Duty online. I pay Activision a good percentage of my income every year already.

Then again, a new CoD title every year is essentially a subscription fee, and they can save a ton of money on developing a new title every year. I might go for it if they kept the price under what I would otherwise end up paying for the latest CoD year after year.

Of course, the javelin thing is bound to pop up again, this time it will be with 5,000 people on any given server.
