Oh, really. All those great exclusives like Halo 3: ODST, L4D2, Forza III, and Mass Effect 2. Oh, wait, those are Xbox games. My bad. PS3 has, what, God of War III and Uncharted II? Big deal.
The entire space won't be used for linear data. Even Blu-Ray uses redundant data to speed up load times. Even then this won't be used for games for a VERY long time.
Not really necessary. Those zombies move incredibly slow. In fact, if the moronic agents that fight the zombies ever thought to walk sideways and shoot at the same time, the zombies wouldn't ever get close enough to even do anything....
The no-run-and-gun controls are just BS at this point. If you need a crappy control scheme to make your game "survival horror", it shouldn't even exist. I mean, I can run and fire a weapon at the same time, and my weapons training consists of going to the firing range and shooting a few different guns one time during Boy Scouts.
If you could run and gun, I would have bought this game. Now, it isn't even worth a rental. Clunky control schemes are things that should be evolving. Using the same shooting mechanics as games that came out before the N64 is a problem. Now, games like Dead Space, Left 4 Dead, etc. show that you CAN have run-and-gun controls in a survival horror game, and still have the horror.
I would just rather have the horror happen in a "Holy **** that zombie just came out of nowhere and caused me to waste 12 bullets on it." then "Oh crap. How am I going to beat this thing without being able to run and shoot it? Stupid controls.". Can't understand the idea that those crappy controls are "preventing the series from becoming just another 3rd-person shooter.". Because if they are...... this game sucks.
I don't know. I bought this game, and while it is far from the game of the year or anything, it is still a good game. It seems to me from reading the reviews that they expected it to be something other than a Battlefront game with a Lord of the RIngs feel. Of course it has repetitive combat - so did Battlefront. The graphics aren't the best, but they are pretty good. The only problem is the implementation of the spy - something that could EASILY be fixed in a patch, because it only is a problem online. I'd give this game and 8.5 - and boost it up to a 8.8 if they could find a way to patch the scout so it is less powerful.

So what exactly about Live is "more robust" than the PSN?"
The fact that the Xbox Live service is more reliable, easier to navigate, easier to find friends, DLC offerings, etc.
It is much more robust. Not to mention that the PSN is going the wrong direction with Home, deciding to attempt a switch to what Penny-Arcade calls "nothing more than a cumbersome menu, a rampart over which you must hoist yourself to accomplish the most basic tasks." Also saying, "Here is everything you need to understand about Home, if you should accidentally launch it from your XMB: press and hold the Playstation button in the center of your Dual-Shock or Sixaxis controller. From the menu that appears, select Quit."
As it happens, I agree with them. And I have used it. Now, in the immortal words of Tycho Brahe, you seem to be "under the impression that because something is free, this places it on some golden dais beyond censure. It's no virtue to give away something that no-one in their right mind would buy."
No, I actually don't give a crap about anonymous user rankings. The only reason I assumed that he wanted to surpass it on the list at GameRankings was because THAT IS WHAT THE ARTICLE SAID. What I was pointing out was that even if he succeeded in making a game 10 times better than OoT, it still wouldn't make it to the top of any internet list.
" he meant that he wants to make something either extremely polished or groundbreaking."
If that is what he meant, why did Joystiq put the GameRankings list in their article.....
