You know, the rumours have the next xbox's name as Xbox infinity. That could be something connected with this.

(Don't) Give me that old time RPG combat

Mar 30th 2012 9:21PM (Joystiq)
Old school RPG combat is terrible. It was only like that because they lacked the tech to do what we can now.

If you are going for a kind of tactical, party based combat then why not base it off of tactical rts games like dawn of war 2?

DOWII has you controlling a small party and carving your way through mooks in ranged and melee combat that works quite well. Something like that, maybe with a limited amount of time where you can slow town time to make coordinated attacks ALA a large scale vats, could work wonders.

The Amazing Spider-Man has Move support

@ima 747

Infamous works considerably better. Though mostly due to the buttons being remapped so you can aim and use powers and the same time.

Admittedly that has less to do with move and more to do with the original control scheme being such ass.

Obsidian missed Fallout: New Vegas Metacritic bonus by one point

Mar 15th 2012 9:41AM (Joystiq)
@xreadmore They aren't.

Metacritic alters the results they get. Letter grades are interpreted entirely differently (a C- is read by metacritic as a 43% for example.)

Can I axe you guys something? This is unrelated.

As someone who just spent the majority of his life in prison, what happened with legos...they used to be simple. Oh come on, you know what I'm talking about. Something happens while I was inside. Video game Legos, Transformers legos....complicated kits...tiny little blocks...

Phil Harrison heads to Microsoft as vice prez of Interactive Entertainment Business arm

Well that's ironic. They replace him with another bald british guy known primarily for making promises he can't keep.

Microsoft sold 426,000 Xbox 360s in February, 14th month in top console spot

Mar 9th 2012 10:54AM (Joystiq)
@double D 215

I had my 360 die on me 4 times. The exact same number of times my ps3 died. My ps3 which I don't play any bioware or bethesda games on, nor any multiplayer shooters and thus I've spent maybe 1/4 the time with...AND bought later.

My 360s deaths cost me negative 15 dollars, because the last 3 times they sent 1 month live codes along with and Iost maybe a couple weeks total.

I never lost my saves, only a small amount of time.

My ps3 was in warranty the first time it died, and after that they wanted to charge me 179 bucks to repair it when it was a week out of warranty. That price has since risen to 200 bucks because apparently the privilege of playing previous gen games on current hardware (you know the thing the 360 can do but current ps3's won't so sony can resell you games) merits effectively rebuying the console everytime it breaks.

Oh and I lost my saves every single time.

The difference between the two is night and day.

I thought the ps3 was only 6 years old?

Or did you mean the 360? You'd be wrong there as it hasn't been the least reliable in years. The 360s is the MOST reliable of the 3. It's the only one that shuts itself off if it is getting too hot, the only one who can play games from the hdd to drastically reduce heat generation and power consumption. It's the only one where even IF the system should die, you don't lose your saves.

Halo 4 bringing the Battle Rifle back, introducing unlockable abilities in progression system

@OneKidney It appears this ia a mistake on joystiq's part. At destructoid 343 specifically said they weren't going the 343 route.

Mass Effect 3 Vault comes with DLC too

Feb 29th 2012 11:18AM (Joystiq)
The amount of sstaggering ignorance here is palpable, though sadly not

The dlc that comes with all these things are reinforcement packs. ME3 multi gives you weapons and characters randomly through packs. 5000 credist gets you common stuff, 20 000 gets you

You aren't being locked out of anything. It's just liek giving people bonus exp.
