Ridge Racer 7: 3D License Version preview: Nothing left in the tank

Sep 18th 2010 11:03AM (Joystiq)
"Ridge Racer 7 was one of the earliest PS3 titles available, and it hasn't aged well. There's a noticeable lack of detail in the world, and it simply can't compete with the experiences offered by current games like Gran Turismo 5 "

I feel dumb after reading something like this... C'mon, Joystick, report the news, stick to the facts and don't go hating on good games for no good reason. RR7 and GT5 are _completely_ different game experiences. The former is an arcade racer, the latter a racing simulation. They cannot be compared. For what its worth, RR7 still provides a unique experience and I certainly wouldn't mind RR8.

Final Fantasy XIII, Bayonetta, Modern Warfare 2, more for $30 each at Kmart

Why are you guys still heckling Nier. It's been said many times that Justin was playing the game wrong. He should have went to spot marked with a big X on the map. The whole thing would have taken just a few seconds. If he'd failed he'd have gotten the required fishes after three failed attempts. But instead of using his brain he put a silly video online and now the internet is convinced Nier is the worst game of the year. Great job, Joystick ....

Hook, Line and Stinker: My failed Nier review

May 4th 2010 3:10AM (Joystiq)
It's silly to damn a game when you're playing it wrong. You're supposed to go to the big X on the map and start fishing there. Then it's easy and you'll catch a fish in a couple of seconds.

What we now have is a reviewer doing a skit and a couple of hundred JRPG haters who LOL at the video and write disparaging remarks about a good game that needs more support than it gets.

Creat Studios and TikGames begin half-off sale on PSN this week

Cuboid is a fun puzzle game. I really should complete it.

Execs from the big three weigh in on the current console cycle

Of course you didn't envision Uncharted 2 graphics on the PS3 four years ago, the PS3 is currently 3 years and 3 months old.

Execs from the big three weigh in on the current console cycle

Feb 15th 2010 3:18PM (Joystiq)
It doesn't feel like five years because it hasn't been five years. The 360 was originally released in November 2005 which makes it four years and three months old. The Wii and PS3 were released in November 2006 which makes them three and three months old. The PS3 release was delayed for the European market to March 2007 so for us Europeans the PS3 has yet to celebrate its third birthday.

It's slightly ridiculous to presume we're at the end of a generational cycle when two consoles have just passed the mid-term of that cycle.

Dev: 'A Crack in Time will probably be Insomniac's last 60fps game'

Oct 30th 2009 4:33PM (Joystiq)
Groan... The first statement is completely irrelevant to the second statement. Insomniac is simply stating that a game running at 30FPS will look better than a 60FPS becaue more CPU/GPU cycles can be used: more polygons, better lightning, more fx, better anti aliasing. This will always be the case, today but also in 2011 when the Insomniac devs have found hundreds of new ways to make their new game engine run faster than the one they used for R&C:ACiT.

Since most gamers don't care that much about 60FPS but they care a LOT about graphics fidelity, Insomniac will abandon 60FPS in order to compete graphically with the big boys (Killzone, Uncharted), They're right when you see critics give the new Ratchet & Clank a lower score for the graphics compared to other game without taking into consideration that the game is running at 60FPS.

Disney Epic Mickey screens and art are suitably epic

Oct 28th 2009 3:45PM (Joystiq)
The leaked concept art for Epic Mickey was indeed epic. The new vision for the game is far less ambitious and the ingame screens look like crap. All the hype for this game instantly evaporated.

Army of Two: The 40th Day trailer previews 'Extraction Mode'

Are you crazy? Give the people who pre-order a soundtrack CD, an art book, a figurine, a USB memory stick with a game character on it, greeting cards, a differnt cover, whatever.

BUT DON"T FUCK WITH THE GAME.

Whenever, wherever you buy the game, you should always get the full game.

I can't believe there are actually people defending this bullshit.

Army of Two: The 40th Day trailer previews 'Extraction Mode'

Oct 22nd 2009 2:14PM (Joystiq)
This pre-order bonus thing is getting ridiculous. Now they're withholding content for a month to people who buy the game at a regular store instead of Gamestop? This shit's gotta stop. If you buy the game, you should get the full game from day one. It's one thing to give goodies if you pre-order, but don't fuckt with the game by adding or withholding game content.
