Critter Crunch consumer consumption saddening, demo releasing next week

Oct 16th 2009 4:39PM (Joystiq)
Great game with a *lot* of content. For $7 it's a steal.

Top 10 July PSN games revealed by PlayStation 'Pulse'

Aug 1st 2009 6:22PM (Joystiq)
Shatter should really have been on that list. It's a great game not enough people know about. Buy it!

PSP Go revealed in June issue of Qore [update]

May 30th 2009 12:34PM (Joystiq)
What do you mean rumour. I've downloaded the June Quore episode and watched the whole PSP Go video two times already.

Everything was revealed:

43% lighter than previous versions
3.8" screen
Bluetooth
No UMD
You can download games and movies from the PSN

New games:
LittleBigPlanet
Metal Gear Solid
Gran Turismo
(Plus possibly Warhawk and Jak & Daxter)

Trophies: Tomb Raider Underworld

May 23rd 2009 4:48AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Hmmm ....a trophy patch ... why would Eidos go through the trouble of creating a patch (which takes time, costs money and another acceptance prodecure) for a game that's already six months old? Was this necessary in order to release the game as a platinum title or is Eidos planning to release their previous Xbox 360-exclusive DLC for the PS3?

World at War DLC reaches 2 million downloads

May 5th 2009 5:46PM (Joystiq)
DLC must be incredibly lucrative. Creating DLC costs only a fraction of the development cost of the full game. Reuse assets from the game, create a few new maps and/or costume packs with a small team and reap millions in profits.

New demoscene hitting PSN: .deTuned

May 5th 2009 3:19AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Andrew, these non-interactive audio-visual presentations are called demos, not demoscenes. The demoscene is the name of the subculture that produces these demos.

Killzone 2 sells more than 1M copies worldwide

Apr 16th 2009 6:46PM (Joystiq)
Killzone has sold 600,000 copies in the US alone so far (NPD figures for Feb & March combined). The European PS3 market is bigger than the US market so the combined European Killzone sales for the past two months should be higher. I think the world wide number of Killzone sales should be close to 1,5 million copies by now.

Report: Final Fantasy XIII demo over 5GB in size

Apr 16th 2009 4:53PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Lost Odyssey was released on 4 DVDs...

I suspect the 360 version of FF13 will be at least 6 DVDs. If this demo is already 5GB the full game will need at least 50GB. It wouldn't surprise me if FFXIII ships on two dual-layer 50GB Blu-Ray discs.I really, really wonder how SE deals with the space restriction on the Xbox 360 which has 7GB DVDs and the restriction that the game should run on consoles without the HD accessory.

Report: Final Fantasy XIII demo over 5GB in size

Dual Layer DVDs are indeed 8.7GB but you don't seem to realize Xbox 360 DVDs only have _7GB_ disk space.

Xbox 360 outsells PS3 in Japan for fourth time, Four Horsemen draw closer

Feb 26th 2009 12:35PM (Joystiq)
To put everything in perspective again: the best-selling 360 game in Japan so far has been Blue Dragon with 203,740 sold copies (according to Famitsu). White Knight Chronicles for the PS3 sold 207,000 copies in _1_ week (100,000 copies on the first day alone). Total sales after 1 month were 315,937 copies.

The 360 may have more JRPGs than the PS3, it doesn't have the sales - even in Japan.

For the curious, here's the 360 top 10 in Japan (before Star Ocean 4 and SF4 were released obviously):

1. Blue Dragon 203,740
2. Tales of Vesperia 161,070
3. The Last Remnant 134,611
4. Infinite Undiscovery 112,444
5. Lost Odyssey 109,517
6. Dead or Alive 4 108,618
7. Viva Pinata (Platinum) 101,552
8. Forza 2 (Platinum) 100,591
9. Ace Combat 6 95,002
10. Halo 3 83,696
