I don't think they know what penultimate means.

These Metroidvania games are neither Metroid nor Vania

Yessss I was looking for Rygar. My dad used to read whatever that wise old dude would say to me in the funniest voice even though, as a kid, I had no idea what the fuck I was doing in that massive game.

Final Fantasy XIV details revealed: No leveling, new job system, deep story

No leveling?!

But, buuut, however will I grind for hours and hours??!?

Really, though, that interests me more than anything else. My mind is blown by Square Enix trying something so radically different in an established genre.

Yes, yes, and more yes. They are different mediums, and there are different reasons I love both. They don't mix well.

I do. I like how he looks, actually. Plus, something about the custom-made Shepards are off. Like the textures never come out fully right or something. I dunno. Bothers me.

Hey Asteroids is going to be a movie so I guess no mountain is too big now, huh?

Dead Space being directed with an 'Eagle Eye' by D.J. Caruso

I have little hope for this as a movie. One of the reasons Dead Space was so awesome was the gameplay. The story/setting had no problem highlighting the game's multiple (direct) inspirations in films such as Alien, The Thing, Solaris, and Nostromo, so when this game materializes it's going to be a movie based off of a game based off of several movies. At that point, there's little hope that it can escape it's derivative trappings and feel original. Even if the film is enjoyable, I doubt it can be either a critical or commercial success because of it's massive "seen it all before" aspect. The appeal of the game was not that we hadn't seen it all before, but that we hadn't played it before (especially not like this).

Of course, I could also ramble on about how the increasingly rapid attempts to turn games into films undermines the artistic credibility of videogames as a serious medium, but we probably shouldn't get into that.

Fans creating Star Fox sequel (it doesn't look like a SNES game)

Thank you. I was reading these comments to look for a voice of sanity, and I didn't find it until I got to the back. Yeah, it's kinda pretty, but the trailer is dull. Nothing happens except for a few shots of stuff flying. And then words tell us things like "a deep storyline," "intense multiplayer," or whatever instead of showing it.

Bleh.

And, for the record, I do a lot of 3d modeling, and it's not hard to model/render anything that I saw in that trailer, especially if it's taking you 6 years.
