They are alienating more people with each update, and basically forcing people to be pissed off. There are always ways around these stupid updates, and I am sure there is already a way around this one.

Just because I disagree with you that they actually hurt the industry != me being a pirate.
I still would like to see how it hurts the industries...

So, I would like to know facts on how pirating has hurt anyone over the years.
These industries still put out shitty games, and the masses keep buying them. Their business model, as is, isn't even flawed. They continue to thrive through it all. One of these days though, god forbid, they might actually have to adapt. What a concept...
