Mar 25th 2010 12:24PM (Engadget)I've got my InfiniTV 4 pre-ordered right now. I'm done with Tivo the instant I can swap the M-card in my series 3 to the WMC PC that I have waiting for the end of May (I'd dump them now, but I really don't want to have to get an M-card again). I would say that a good portion of Tivo subscribers are the type that would not be daunted by putting a pci-e card into a PC. Once Ceton, Silicon Dust, and maybe Hauppauge get cablecard tuners on the market, Tivo is going to loose a large chunk of their subscribers.

Mar 13th 2010 1:30PM (Engadget HD)Thanks for the info, that's good to know. I was hoping that Ceton would have better selection in vendors.

Mar 2nd 2010 11:55PM (Engadget)I'm with you all the way there. I haven't been paying Tivo $13 a month for over two years just to get dumped for the series 4. Soon as the Ceton cards come out I'm cancelling my subscription. And that will actually be a one stop box for entertainment with the blu-ray drive the PC I'm planning to put it in has. Sorry Tivo. I'm ending the relationship. Never thought I'd say it, but Microsoft has the better option now.

Ceton's quad CableCARD tuner for Windows Media Center gets a price
Jan 5th 2010 7:52PM (Engadget)I'm completely with you. I'm tired of paying Tivo $13 a month for almost zero development. It's pretty sad when the cableco's STB UIs are starting to look better. They may not work better, but this isn't the 90's anymore. WMC's UI used to be kind of clunky in the XP days, but in Win7 it really puts Tivo to shame.

Jan 5th 2010 7:46PM (Engadget)Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think XBMC can handle DRMed content. That's the point of a media center extender; it can. Live TV is also an area I believe only the extender would be able to handle.
