Aug 28th 2009 11:11AM (Joystiq)Sony could break even on PS3 in '09, finally get agressive with pricing
Dec 23rd 2008 8:58PM (Joystiq)That means the PS3 is dropping motr slowly. It's a ~33% drop versus a ~17% or 20% drop, depending on which SKU of the PS3 you get.

Jul 21st 2008 8:31PM (Joystiq)If you only count the disc songs, I could agree, but if you include DLC I'd say Rock Band has more hard charts than GH3.
'Team Sneaking' mode added to Metal Gear Online
Jul 7th 2008 6:44PM (Joystiq)For those of you who haven't played MGO, it can be extremely fun. It controls exactly like the single player game, but you're playing against other people instead of AI so it's a lot more exciting. If you're super-competitive/super-serious it's probably not the game to get into because there are a lot of issues with the netcode and the way it handles bad latency, but for the most part it's extremely fun.
There are a few other problems with it as well. The biggest being the fact that it runs off of konami's own system rather than using PSN. It's also rather apparent that Konami plans to try and nickel and dime the userbase as much as they can. For example, you can only have one character per console. So if more than one person uses your PS3 and wants to play you'll have to buy extra character slots which are pretty expensive (relatively). There's also a codec pack that you can buy that gives your character a bunch of extra pre-recorded messages to use. They're also coming out with a DLC pack soon (rumors say it'll be about 12 bucks) that add Johnny and Meryl as playable characters, add some new maps and also allow you to create female characters. Some of this stuff I can understand charging for, but most of it was obviously held back to grab some extra cash from the playerbase.
Anyway, the core gameplay is good enough that you can look past the game's issues, but if it didn't have all of these minor issues it could've been a lot better.

Feb 26th 2008 2:11PM (Joystiq)Capcom sued over Dead Rising
Feb 26th 2008 2:00PM (Joystiq)I think it's also pertinent to point out that the original Night of the Living Dead is in the public domain, so at the very least the Romero model of zombie is free to exploit however anyone may wish. SO that takes the 'zombie' part out of 'zombies in a mall'. I guess the MKR group thinks they hold copywright on malls.
As for the actual story of the games and the movies, there are a few similarities between the original dawn of the dead and dead rising (fly in on a chopper, one of the major characters is a reporter, take the vents to get to the safe room), but they are minor at best. Comparing it to the remake gets rid of those similarities completely.

Feb 15th 2008 2:27PM (Joystiq)GamePro tests console controller battery life
Feb 1st 2008 12:47PM (Joystiq)Anyway, I've never had any problems with the batteries of any of the current consoles. What I'm really surprised abou tthough, is how long the batteries in my Rock Band guitar have lasted. I've played the game, on average, a few hours a day since launch and still haven't had to replace them. On the other hand I had to swap out the guitar hero 3 batteries after like a month and a half. Seems kind of weird since RedOctane generally has solid hardware.
