I played till 60, when it was still a sub game. Once it went F2P, the constant badgering of asking me to spend my points, I just could not take it anymore and I left the game completely. I ruined the game for me.
Now for the people that would say I am being elitist, well I had no problem with the new players. They were the best part of going F2P, but constantly badgering a Lifetime sub customer to spend points in the shop, when I am in the middle of doing things kind of ruins it for me.
But if you can put that aside, it is a really nice game. The combat gets a little repetitive, but its not bad at all. I would still be playing it, if they would stop with asking me to spend points every few mins I play.
The hate level for this game is enormous. I am enjoying it none the less.
I am sure everyone has legitimate concerns. But for some reason I do trust these guys. Call me a BioDrone if you will. But seriously, this is the only developer that I can get behind.
Maybe they are becoming a bit too corporate for my tastes. But old habits die hard, I guess. I love them for everything that they have produced. Haven't played DA2 so I don't know how that will hold up. I am naive, and would like to believe them.
To each their own I guess. As long as they don't add a cash shop I am good.
Other than that, I hope GW2 and TSW (which I won't play due to the cash shop) are good. Really looking forward to them. I hope GW2 is a huge improvement of GW1. As much as GW1 was great, I never could get into it. But I am a hopeful. That is all you can be these days. Publishers are ruining good developers.
Thankfully I stopped playing this game when it went F2P.
This is the problem with F2P games and item stores. They eventually fall into this pattern. F2P will be the bane of video games in general. I wonder when everyone will stop be "enough is enough."
I am sorry but they are not the same game anymore. I do not know about EQII but I stopped playing LoTRO right after it went F2P. Had nothing to do with new players and what not. I only interacted with my guild in LoTRO. It was the constant steering towards the Turbine Store that made me quit. So no they do not remain the same game after a conversion like that. And its a good thing I quit too, apparently the best gear in the store now is better than the crafted ones. So seriously do not say that the game remains the same. It does not remain the same, it cannot remain the same. Their money now comes from the cash shop. They will constantly try and get you buy from the store. That is what a F2P does. But why let facts stand in the way of F2P revolution.
I am sorry you feel that people who do not like F2P are on a high horse.
I am happy for the people that wanted a game like this. This should foster community and other aspects that people say lacks in most of the MMOs these days.
The only thing that I expect, is that the game will not be polished, will have a few bugs. But that is to be expected.
Now, to the players that are bored of the same old thing in MMOs these days: Please play and support this game if you like the features of this, even if it is not polished like a few of the bigger games out there. That is the only way you guys will get the game to be they way you want it to be. The industry runs on money, so please support the games that you like.
As for me, this game is not for me. But I hope it finds success from those that want this kind of a game.
