Apr 7th 2009 10:58AM (AOL TV)I don't need to be told that those left behind often don't get an explanation. That was the point of the episode, I understood that. But it comes across as cheap when the network pimps out the death of a major character - it stops being an artistic decision and becomes an obvious ratings grab. And that makes it hurt more, because then you start wondering if this was written into the character originally, or was tacked on. Considering Kal Penn made the decision to leave because of his White House gig, it's probably tacked on.
Just because it's not obvious doesn't mean the suicidal depression isn't there.
