Comic-Con: new firmware, new demo and new connectivity [Update 1]
Jul 24th 2006 4:18AM (Joystiq Playstation)It's clear this new "Firmware" is just a cheap shot to lock down the recent exploits like Dev Hook, that let you run FW 2.71 games on any FW 1.5 system. (Not to mention the FW 2.6 Downgrader, that let's you roll-back your PSP to FW 1.5)
They keep trying to cut off Homebrew games and ISO loaders at every turn, and this is just yet another cheap shot. NEVER UPGRADE YOUR PSP, NOOBS!
Fair Use Forever!

Jan 28th 2006 8:05AM (Joystiq Playstation)Try this site, and see if you can keep up! There's so many new Homebrew things being made everyday, you might need a 2GB memory card just to see them all! Look for PSP Radio if you REALLY want to see what the PSP can do.

Sony wants you to update to 2.6
Dec 24th 2005 9:52AM (Joystiq Playstation)I don't understand this concept at all that UMD loaders and Homebrew decrease sales. I've used just about every form of software that's been released for the PSP. And I've also purchased 23 games for the PSP since March. That's about $1200 worth of software, on top of the $250 for the PSP itself, and a $120 I paid for an official Sony Memory Stick Duo. I wouldn't have spent half that much if I wasn't constantly kept addicted to my PSP thanks to Homebrew stuff.
It seems, the more I use my PSP, and have it around, the more often I am tempted to splurge and buy a new Game!
I haven't gotten into watching movies on the PSP, since it was rather painful on my neck to watch that free Spiderman 2 UMD that came with the PSP, but otherwise I've been a model customer. And that can be attributed, in no small amount, to the wonders of Homebrew and the great men and women that have poured their time and effort into making free toys to keep my entertained in the long weeks between the "BIG" PSP game releases.
So count me as one of the success stories of the Homebrew community.
