I don't care one way or the other whether these apps are in the app store or not but the whole thing is a real nonsense when you've got Safari on the thing that means you can go and look at far more explicit content than some bikini apps offer if you're feeling so inclined.
You can't go making knee-jerk reactions every time there's a few complaints from a few whinging do-gooders. What next? Remove all of the apps with violence in them?
It's not a move that can sit well amongst developers either if the goalposts keep moving about what's going to be allowed in the store. Apple just seemed to be getting some positive vibes back at last having apparently streamlined the approval process and then they go and do this. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
I don't want Flash anywhere near my iPhone; I agree with Apple, it's garbage. I can run complex filters in Photoshop CS3 on my MacBook no problem at all, or I can play a little game of Tetris written in Flash that heats up my Laptop like crazy; something not quite right there! I don't want my iPhone to cook!!! If nothing else hopefully Apple's stubborn stance might convince Adobe to take another look at the dismal performance of Flash. People grumble about it but it's hardly killed off iPhone sales. I would like to think that there might be a lot of website owners concerned that they are missing a growing percentage of internet users by having Flash heavy sites. On the other hand it's ok saying that HTML5 will kill of Flash, but even being optimistic that's going to take some time and the iPad is all but with us. I think people will expect a full browsing experience on the iPad and I see it's omission as more of a problem than it is on the iPhone.
I tend to agree with the view that programs like SpamSieve are much less relevant than they used to be. I have used SpamSieve for several years now and it is a great product that has filtered out a lot of garbage over that time, but when I look at my junk folder now there's virtually no spam in it as my email providers are now doing a much better job of filtering my mail than they did in the past. That said if you do still have an issue with spam, then I also recommend SpamSieve.
MacDragon: Thanks for clearing that up about PAYG. It's still expensive but it increases the probability that I'll go that way rather than a contract if I can dredge up the funds from somewhere.
I've held off buying an iPhone to date because I've been waiting for a 32Gb device and for Apple to iron out some of the kinks in the iPhone and felt sure that I'd be buying this new model, but now it's (almost) here I am having to think hard because of the overall price. I'm not grumbling about the price of the phone or of the price of the contract, but the combination of the two are definitely making me think very carefully. Even the Pay as You Go option is pricey as I understand that the top-ups expire after 30 days which is typically greedy from O2. I think it's time Apple scrapped the exclusivity deals with the mobile phone companies as these are proving very bad value for customers and ultimately I believe will drive people away from the iPhone.
I'm annoyed about the lack of support for European players of Guitar Hero World Tour being brushed off with the comment that they'll get around to releasing stand-alone drums eventually outside the U.S. When you read the box for the edition of GHWT with the Guitar bundle it clearly states that the drum kit can be bought separately - not in Europe it can't, false advertising I'd say. Perhaps Acitivision would like to give me my money back.
Well it's just taken all evening to download all 377mb for my aluminium MacBook only for the download to complete and tell me something was wrong with it's digital signature, which I guess means I've got to go through the whole process again. Brilliant.
Think I'll wait a few days before doing this one as I've had none of the issues that have been described despite having a 4Gb unibody MacBook. Firmware updates are scary!!!

7 million iPhone and iPod touch users tried to download Flash, and left sad
