Rock Band Weekly: Lady Gaga, Cartman's 'Poker Face'

I know just what you'd do if you got behind Lady GaGa, Eric ;p

Bookie suspects Uncharted 2 has highest odds of success at BAFTAs

Uncharted 2 should win, but unfortunately I'd call it at least an even chance between it and MW2. Fortunately I don't gamble :)

More Valkyria Chronicles DLC rolls out next week

Kind of hard to support it when I don't have a PSP. And I suspect that's true for a fairly large amount of PS3 owners, which is what really makes this both a dick move - and a stupid move - on Sega's part. I'll buy any new VC game on PS3 on release day - but I'm not getting a PSP just for it.

No dedicated servers or LAN play for BioShock 2

Jan 28th 2010 10:45PM (Joystiq)
Well that saves me some money :) No sale on those conditions even if multiplayer is really unimportant to a game like Bioshock anyway. But I'm not giving my money to any developer that go that route - no matter the game.

Rock Band Weekly: Slipknot, Simon & Garfunkel, Lights Resolve

Those are two awesome S&G songs. Of course there are a lot of other great ones, but I cannot complain at all. "I Am A Rock" may not be their best known song, but it's classic S&G and really grows on you, and "The Sounds of Silence" is their breakthrough song - probably the single best song they could have picked!

ToeJam & Earl creator says XBLA port not so certain; future games in franchise still a possibility

Sega has given us Valkyria Chronicles this generation. I'll forgive them a lot for that.

I'm guessing they do have the right to the specific game. But not to the characters and other IP involved. Thus they can't do a remake (or use them as characters in other games), but they can provide the original game for VC.

No Doubt suing Activision for Band Hero 'circus act' appearance

Nov 4th 2009 7:14PM (Joystiq)
No Doubt is the only good thing to ever come out of Gwen Stefani. Not great - too generic for that - but decent pop music nevertheless. Anything else she's made is a steaming pile of... well you get my point.

As for the dispute - a second lawsuit matching Courtney Love does indeed seem to indicate something fishy. My money is on ambigiously worded contracts combined by Activision people making a lot of false verbal promises. But time will tell as the lawsuits continue. Until then we are all just guessing.

Rock Band Weekly: Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Joan Jett

Oct 30th 2009 2:31PM (Joystiq)
Those are some great Foo songs... I don't care that there's already a lot of Foo songs on RB when they give us songs of that quality. And if Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl are smart enough (unlike most in the business) to realize that the future of music involves heavy involvement in rythm based games then all the more power to them. I'm pretty sure Harmonix would love for more bands and artists to agree to getting their music distributed this way, but unfortunately a lot are just too stupid or too old-fashioned to get where the future is going.

Dev: 'A Crack in Time will probably be Insomniac's last 60fps game'

Oct 30th 2009 2:22PM (Joystiq)
I can't say I don't understand them - and to be honest it's something that needs to be looked at on a case-by-case basis to maximize the result. And that's how I read what they're saying too. But it's just not true that 30fps is always (or mostly) as good as 60fps. If it's a game with a high degree of action a higher framerate IS almost always better than a few extra tweaks to the graphics. And since Ratchet is and always has been a heavily actionbased title a 60fps goal makes *perfect* sense for it - just as it'd do for eg Wipeout.
