Zack and Wiki still need your help ... for only $10

Jul 17th 2008 1:12PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Grr!....this is so damn annoying! In the UK this game is still costing around $50 at it's lowest price and it has been out since January! We will never get these $10 prices and it's just not on! I've wanted to buy Zack and Wiki for months but i'm not going to until it is a more reasonable price in the UK - the same goes for other games like Boom Blox. I'd be better off buying an american wii next time i'm there. :(

Wii Fit priced for $90 at GameStop, pre-order $10

Mar 24th 2008 1:48PM (Joystiq)
OMG you guys are jokers. I'd gladly pay £45 (the equivalent in the UK) for Wii fit rather than the £70 ($140) dollars we have to fork out. I know you guys are in a recession and everything but you guys have always had the good life with these prices. So pull your hands out your pockets and stop being stingy!
I'm tempted to get a freeloader just so i can ship games from the states, and even wii fit!

Nintendo: No demos required for Wii Ware titles

Feb 21st 2008 5:44AM (Joystiq)
Wow, am I the only person that thinks a 20% sale rate is a bit poor? I mean that's 80% of people that didn't want to buy your game. And I hope those figures don't include all the free copies of the games that come with the Arcade model of the 360, or for other reasons that microsoft has given away arcade games. Plus that 20% may have bought the game if there was no demo around anyway.

And people really should re-read the artical, especially people like 'Oak' above. Why call Nintendo arrogant when it sounds like it's giving developers a choice of whether to include a demo or not. But we should really wait for an official statement.

I'm fine with there being no demos. I am capable of reading reviews, looking at images, and even video clips on youtube or wherever to come up with some conclusion as to whether it's likely that i'll enjoy a game.

How old is old enough to play games?

Jan 29th 2008 7:36AM (Joystiq)
I know this topic is directly referring to video games but reading through the text it generally just refers to 'gaming'. So i think all kids, any age should be 'gaming' in the sense of playing games, but for video games in particular i'd say 3+. And until they get to 8 they should be playing video games that are largely text based to entice them into reading more - none of this video cut scene rubbish with voice overs so they have to make an effort to read what to do!

My nephew is 6 and really wants to play twilight princess on the wii but i won't let him. Not just because he's too young for it, but he probably won't understand what to do with the large amount of reading to be done. So he has some incentive to improve his reading until i know he can handle it himself! Thankfully he's handling mario galaxy pretty much ok.

Kmart reportedly breaks Mass Effect street date

Nov 10th 2007 5:54PM (Joystiq)
I don't get how any shop is able to break street dates on goods. When i used to work in a music/DVD store, if anything was put out early by accident and somebody tried to buy it, the computer would not let it go through. It'd need a manager's password to override it. I'd have thought that these kind of things were basic to any store that used electronic tills!

Bungie rolls out first update to Halo 3 matchmaking playlists

Oct 10th 2007 7:27AM (Joystiq)
I wouldn't exactly say you apologised in advance to non-halo gamers as I'd already read it by the time I got to your apology. You're right...it made no sense to me at all!

Report: Online console games bring in more revenue

Sep 7th 2007 9:11AM (Joystiq)
OMG this is so dumb. I could've told you that online games could bring in more money because of DLC. It's not rocket science that games that sell add on items/stages could make more moola than those that don't.

I disagree that online games should be implemented by everything. Infact i think that focusing on the online side of things is ridiculous. The more online games that come out, the less chance that you'll actually find someone to play with. I mean take Halo 2 for example. I don't have any figures to back my statement up but i'm sure that the number of online players of that game has gone down in the past year. I put that down to newer shooters such as gears/rainbow 6 coming out and so people playing them as well. Now when Halo 3 comes out i'm sure most Halo 2 players will play that online instead. So eventually it will get to the stage when it will be difficult to find someone to play halo 2 when you want to play it.

Now take into account all 3 consoles, with new online games coming out everyweek, and the millions of people in different time zones. We will soon get to the point when most of the games you attempt to play online will not have any players, except for new releases. So this is why i'm all for single player games and less so for multiplayer one. And it particularly annoys me when people whine about games with no online stuff - as long as single player is good, the online should be just a nice bonus, as it will be the single player that outlasts the online multiplayer in the end.

Virtually Overlooked: Zillion

Aug 31st 2007 7:40AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Ok, a bit off topic but...
I can't remember if i'm correct or not but i seem to recall that when you didn't put a game in (i think it was...) the sega mega drive, wasn't there like a maze game built in. Snails ring a bell with it too for some reason (maybe you were a snail going around the maze). Does anyone know what i'm talking about. Can you do a virtually overlooked thing on that game if i'm right :D

slightly back on topic...i don't know why everyone keeps bashing the CD-I zelda game 'face of evil'. I seem to recall liking it when i was younger. The cut scenes made me laugh - think there was one of a woman cutting fish heads. Ok it was nothing like the zelda games of today, and at the time I had never played any of the other zeldas, so i guess it must've been my first one. I never completed it though.

Xbox Live Arcade statistics galore from GameFest

Aug 15th 2007 1:53PM (Joystiq)
These figures are stupid. sure there may have been 45m downloads but how many people bought the game, not just got the demo? if companies only made 30m and games dont cost a dollar then i think number of real purchases is far, far lower than 45m!

The VC Advantage: Getting it out of the way

Aug 9th 2007 7:20AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I agree that I think the most famous cheat is the Sonic the Hedgehog one...but i think you've got it wrong Koshiro...
It's Up, C, Down, C, Left, C, Right, C, hold down A and keep pressing start.

Think that's it anyway
