Sep 20th 2006 8:00AM (Engadget)Should we consider the PSP dead?
Jul 19th 2006 9:10AM (Joystiq)the PSP really is a success, if anything, because there are many people who find pleasure in whatever feature(s) they take advantage of. anything that adds value to someone's life is a success. success if measured in various different ways according to each particular individual. and who really has any right to say different.
we all win, when something has success...and it gives developers something to build upon, further down the road.
Should we consider the PSP dead?
Jul 19th 2006 8:16AM (Joystiq)The PSP has the cool factor in that it's an on-the-go web browser, movie/video player, music player, picture viewer, and of course a game machine...even tho the game side is usually mentioned to the side of things. which i think is the problem: to most people, it really is a game machine (because a lot of people already have their ipods & mp3 players, and internet on their cell phones).
the game machine aspect of the PSP needs to be focused on & mastered upon in the future. but it's saddled by slow game load times, which really is a killer (as people have very little patience these days) and keeps the PSP more in the media/internet gadget.
that all said, i think God for the PSP...it helps keep a stellar DS catalog, as Nintendo (or any company) works better when it has competition. The DS probably wouldn't be as good as it is without things in the market such as a PSP. i'm glad to see games like LocoRoco come out for the PSP...hopefully it will spur some creativity for DS developers to get us these cool, indie, katamari-esque type games that are so accessible, yet addicting & fulfilling to play!
Long may the PSP live!
