man you people are retarded, I don't understand why joystiq posts something false and then says it false throughout the whole article. If it has no relevance to the truth, don't F*****' post it. You just confuse all the retards that look at the article because they take it seriously.

Iwata tackles Virtual Console prices, Wii Connect24 [update 3]

idioteraser, you really do have to erase yourself.

"PS3 harddrives will be from Sony there comments indicate upgrading the 500 dollar PS3 will cost far more since guess what pc componets aren't supported by sony as well as their size."

Sony already said that you will be able to plug in any HDD from any computer that you want.

If the PS3 is jam packed like Sony claims with the hardware you couldn't fit anything into it. How are you supposed to add usb ports hacksaw the console? Seems any upgrade will violate the warranty and cause mass potential for failed PS3s.

The PS3 has USB ports, so put the hacksaw back in your daddys tool shed before you hurt yourself.

WOW! having your console on, and totally connected to the internet at all times, that'll probably cost more money than the PS3 in the long run on electricity alone. Talk about an arm and a leg.

NYTimes examines Sony's worldwide appeal

May 31st 2006 7:07PM (Joystiq)
'A Merril Lynch analyst said, "What is Sony? We don't even know anymore. Consumers used to pay more because the brand meant something special."'

But if consumers want something 'special' then they have to PAY MORE for what they get. But they don't want to PAY MORE, so they b***h until the 'special' features are cut and the price goes down.

A look at how the PS3 got to be $600

Kye,
Your an idiot who doesn't know what he is talking about. You talk about my parents through your whole comment and then call me a bastard at the end of it, you might want to look that one up in the dictionary. It looks like I have a better vocabulary and income than you do. And if anyone can spend $400 dollars on a standalone video game console, they can afford to buy one thats a whole hell of a lot better for only $100 more. so quit complaining about being poor if you buy a 360 for 100 bucks less. Oh, and yeah thats right, Im comparing the higher model 360 to the lower model PS3, because the lower model PS3 is better than the Higher model 360 any day.

@ vince:
It is expensive, just not in the case that you get what you pay for. If the PS3 cost as much as the Wii or the 360 to manufacture then yes, $600 would be expensive, But it costs a lot more than the 360 and wii put together to manufacture, so why shouldn't the price be hire. I am personally definately getting one. And no I am not getting my money from my Mommy and Daddy, Im only 15 so Im getting a job at a store that is close to me so that I can save up over the summer vacation to get it. So if a 15 Y/O can save up enough money to get it, anyone can.

Sony expects gamers to "Play Beyond" $599 [update1]

May 23rd 2006 8:46PM (Joystiq)
THE COMMENT TO END ALL COMMENTS
Sony WILL sell consoles at launch and for the six to ten years after launch. Period. Sony saw what happened to the Xbox launch, Microsoft didn't release enough consoles at a high enough price so they all sold out. Once they sold out people were willing to spend $800 to get one on Ebay even though microsoft was taking a loss for every console sold. Sony saw this and thought, if we sell more at launch with a higher price tag, people will still buy them. So that is what they are doing. Why sell a console at a loss too yourself so that other people can gain from selling them on Ebay for twice the cost. Instead sell more of them at a higher cost so that people can buy them straight from you and you dont lose any money.
I saw a brand spankin new PS1 in its original packaging at EB yesterday for $20, so yes, after the launch hype the price WILL go down. And people WILL still buy them. So instead of Ebayers making profits off of your system at double the price, Why not jack up the price and have yourself make money off of the console. Strategy is how businesses make mulah.

END.
