And I also realize Epic doesn't make it, but it is part of their division, and while they may be producing, it still reeks of Epic Games. And yes I know it's developed on UE3, which is why it looks like an Epic game. It's the substance that reeks of Epic, not the outer layers.
Well, they failed at parody then, because it came off as taking itself too seriously. And this is coming from a guy who loves parody. I grew up on Weird Al. I love Mel Brooks. The list could go on, but instead of proving my "parody creds," all I can say is that if that's their idea of parody, then they failed, because unless you are apparently in on the joke you won't be able to tell it apart from any other of the 50 recent games that are exactly like it, play better, and aren't in-jokes to people who are already reading up on the game.
I played the demo on Xbox and was embarrassed as soon as the super gravelly voiced outer-space solider/bounty-hunter/whatever started talking about the generic mutants and vendetta he had against some generic sounding bad guy. This game is juvenile, and that's coming for a mid 20's guy who still laugh at the penis game when he overhears people doing it. The gameplay was also pretty generic. But then again, everything Epic puts out has always been generic and juvenile, but at least UT was schizophrenically fun, and I was much younger.
As I was leveling mining through Northrend, I flew over Gundrak a few times, and was impressed by the Temple's scope and design, but it made me wonder: why was this awesome prop never used for anything? I think I may vaguely remember something about another troll raid or instance in the Temple itself, but I can't seem to find anything about it. Was this a planned raid or instance that Blizzard just decided they didn't have time for? If so, do you think they'll ever revisit it? It's too huge and impressive to just sit there forever.
It's not the new things that interest me, it's the fact that this is an actual patch, not new content. I want them to fix what's broken. Tune the heroics. Fix the classes. Debug the raids. Stuff that should happen sooner rather than later.
Unrelated, but as a long time WoW player, I really wish the community would collectively drop the word "QQ" altogether. I have only ever seen it used by elitists and jerks, and anytime I hear anyone use it, I just lose some respect for them. It's on the same level as "nub" and any variant thereof. I'm probably one of the few though.
Hey there Brett, I see you looking down. Don't want to see my little buddy there with a frown. Just because I get more internet than you, well that's only because you don't pay what I do. Sure, you're seedy, and kind of sly, but some party out there must be needy for a seedy, sly guy. They want you as the needle when they're rolling in the hay. Just hear me out when I say...
Brett, you got it going on. The commenters will get to know your naivete when they get to know your personality! I said, Brett, you got it going on. Not in a gay way, just in a "hey mate, I wanted to say that you're looking okay, mate." Why can't a heterosexual guy, Tell a heterosexual guy that he thinks his booty is fly? Not all the time, obviously, just when he's got a problem with his self-esteem. Don't let anybody tell you you're not humpable. Because you're bumpable. Well, I hope this doesn't make you feel uncomfortable. If I say you've got a boom ow-ow. Come on Brett, help me out now!
The mailbox in Ramkahen was badly needed several times by me. Good fix there. The fixes to Deadmines are also very welcome, it was taking all but the best groups I ran with hours to finish, and by the end I was ready to take a nap.
