So is there a major North American sports league with competing titles this year, or have exclusive licenses and crappy dev work ruined it for everyone?

In the time I ran the local Gamestop, we had a higher rate of returns on MadCatz controllers (this was 2005-2007, so they may have gotten better, I don't know). In the era of PS2/Xbox/Gamecube, first-party controllers were better values - you spent twice the money and got a product that lasted four times as long.

Collector's Editions come in two varieties: a waste of money, or completely unfair advantage. The vast majority of Collector's Editions fall into the first category. They charge an extra $10-$20 for a DVD, a trinket, and maybe a poster. I've lost count of the number of titles which have been sold with this crap. A few years ago when I ran the local Gamestop, I usually recommended that customers skip a collector's Edition unless it gave actual additional game content. But then, on occasion, you get the second category, as was the case with Battlefield: Bad Company. The premium weapons were entirely unbalancing.

It's hard to get this balance right, and I can't think of a title which did.

When they say "adventure game", I wonder if the games are going to be in the mold of Dragon's Lair, Kings Quest/Space Quest, or Monkey Island?
