The 4-inch iPhone display: Doing the math

Feb 16th 2011 1:35PM (TUAW.com)
Is there a law that requires Apple to stay at 326 ppi? It's not a magic number that makes the display "Retina".
Where is the problem in scaling up to 290 ppi and making the device a little bit bigger?

Best reaction to an oncoming Google Street View car ever

Pretty funny. But the sequence is played backwards, so the reaction is not as quick as it seems to be.

Insomniac 'flattered' by Mario Galaxy concept

Oct 7th 2007 12:58PM (Joystiq)
Why are you getting so worked up on Miyamotos behalve? He certainly would put on a polite japanese smile and agree that it's a good thing to look around for inspiration. Where in this interview Schneider suggests, that he has something against SMG or accuses Miyamato of "stealing" from R&C? You can find admiration for the grandfather of jump'n'runs between the lines.

Anybody here actually played the spherical worlds in R&C? They are done very well and work great. And yes, SMGs planets DO have a lot in common with them, regardless if Miyamoto knew them or not. If Insomniac would have done them AFTER Mario Galaxy, you would have slaughtered them for copying. But the other way around ...

The "community" here is in a really sad state of collective hysterical ranting. I hope there are some guys here who still find a little bit fun in gaming.

Insomniac 'flattered' by Mario Galaxy concept

Boy, you guys really love to get off on these things, do you?

Schneider is a marketing guy doing his job. Heck, he didn`t say he invented things like spherical worlds.
He would like to think, that his game inspired Miyamoto (as in being honored by that fact)! He's trying to make a compliment and expresses respect to Miyamoto.

But understanding that would require a little bit of reading comprehension and insight in the joystiq's spin on these kind of stories. Am I a fool to expect that on an videogaming blog?

"Nothing" is most wanted PSP game in Japan

Jan 10th 2007 1:35PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Bad translation. "None of these" or "Nothing particular" would be better.
This option was also top at the PS2 poll and second at the WII and X360 polls...

Dead Rising banned in Germany

Jul 18th 2006 8:11AM (Joystiq)
comment #31 is mostly right, only the first sentence is wrong: It's not illegal to sell or own "indexed" games (or other media) in germany, you are not allowed to advertise them - including putting them on display on shelf - or sell it to minors (below 18).

Just to repeat it one more time:
Dead Rising is NOT banned in Germany. Capcom may choose to not publish it in germany due to the danger of not being able to advertise it and being ignored by some large retailers, who refuse to sell violent games. Its is no problem to import or order this game from online shops (age verification needed).
