Report: Capcom sees 'no distinction' between on-disc and off-disc DLC
Apr 3rd 2012 8:00PM (Joystiq)When it comes to DLC (additional downloadable content, the disc locked definition is a farce), I consider myself to be paying for the efforts of the development team above and beyond the initial title release. I expect the expansion of the game, not the unlocking of it.
Since this is Capcom, I have to say I'm not outraged by the single additional versions of Street Fighter and Marvel Vs. Capcom that have been recently released. They were sold at a premium price point and represented a tremendous effort not only to add a significant amount of content, but also to re-balance the entire game engine for fair and competitive play.
What can I say, without a business degree and a jaded outlook I still see value as a two-sided coin. One comprised of the product I receive, and the efforts that created it. In the case of unlocked content, I'm paying once to receive it, and again to be allowed to use it.
I can understand why this seems like a genius business tactic, who wouldn't want to get away with selling the same product twice? It's become a question of integrity. There's a line being drawn in the sand. From here on out those companies that wish to be perceived as having integrity need only step to the right side.
- Which in my mind brings up more questions regarding the sheep's clothing we're setting out for the wolves in drawing such succinct distinctions. But he, we all know we'll never like EA. Capcom at least could yet save face.

Aug 26th 2011 9:56AM (Joystiq)I love Phoenix so much in this game, I really do, but she was already too squishy for me. I suppose I'll play her even less after this. I know I'm crap with her so I have to ask, did she really need to be nerfed?

Feb 25th 2011 9:39AM (Joystiq)Also, what about the shotgun? Sure, there's a double barrel now, joy...is the regular one gonna shoot where I aim and do consistent damage? Can it still gib or is that strictly for the new double?
And what about the crappy Gears 2 maps which catered so heavily to cheap grenade sticking tactics?
Dedicated servers are awesome, but ultimately worthless if the gameplay isn't repaired. Gears 1 got it right when they first implemented the slowing effect on the Lancer. Everything since has been a major "ain't broke, don't fix it" faux pas.
And a final note, why does Cliffy B hate burst fire? Now he's ruined both the Hammerburst AND the Gorgon Pistol for those of us who enjoy it.
Determine Carmine's fate in Gears of War 3, help Child's Play
Jul 21st 2010 12:16PM (Joystiq)Now I'm being told I have to choose whether he lives or dies. Not only does it take some of the fun out of watching it unfold, but I have a hard time condemning the character to death. I don't really like this.
All I have to say is, should Clayton die, maybe D Carmine should be allowed to stand with the gears until the end.

Jul 21st 2010 10:47AM (Joystiq)Real stuff, I was in the woods in the dark and I heard a growl. Something came running at me through the bushes and leaves and at first, all I could see were glowing eyes and sharp teeth. Luckily, it turned out to be a friendly dog.
