MS drops the banhammer on fake Live accounts

Nov 28th 2006 3:33AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I am in the US military finishing up a tour of duty overseas. I have an American Live account and an American Xbox. If MS isn't carefull, they will wind up alienating (read seriously pissed off) a lot of Soldiers and Sailors. If MS has any brains, they will check to see if the country that a Live account claims matches the region code built into the Xbox. Better yet, ditch the idea entirely, some of my friends bought their Xboxes out on the town.

PSP second place behind iPod

And I missed that part in your comment when you mentioned downconversion, pixelator. But why not just rip direct from a DVD? That's what I usually do.

PSP second place behind iPod

I use a Palm TX for video and music but not my psp. Gotta disagree about the frame rate pixelator, true a video that has to be scaled may play a bit slower, but a well encoded movie looks just fine. Granted the screen isn't as bright or as big, but I find the picture to be sharper. All that said, the biggest reason that I use my TX as a PMP is that it goes where I go where as I usually only bring my PSP if I know that I'm going to have a lot of downtime, like at an airport. Now if only i could read my eBooks on my PSP. I know I'm a geek.

X06 Korea: 360 gets 100 GB hard drive?

Oct 19th 2006 8:25PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I wouldn't mind having a larger HDD for Arcade games and music. But if this is real, is Microsoft going to provide a way to copy all my stuff?

Australia <3 PSP, according to SCEA

While I do agree that the DS and the PSP have different demographics, I would have to disagree about that "younger, very female skewed" crack. I have to wonder where he got his numbers.

Dell discontinues hard drive audio players

Feb 6th 2006 6:20AM (Engadget)
Personally I think my Palm T|X is a iPod killer. 128MB internal plus
2GB! SD card. Runs any software that I want. Plays any format that
I want including live shoutcast streams and movies. Oh yeah GOT
WIFI?

POLL: Do you homebrew?

Dec 14th 2005 8:35PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I tried to run home brew but being more into the DS at the time (and still loving it) I didn't know not to run the software update out of the box. Sad too, especially since I usually rip to ogg vorbis nowadays (proprietary formats usually having proprietary DRM). I also wanted to be able to read books on the thing like I do with my palm pilot. Oh and here's an idea for Sony and the home brew crowd; multitasking. Stuff like being able to listen to music while I use that crumby web browser.

Free movies that won't get you arrested

I agree with #1 but don't forget to add SONY'S VANDALISM to the list. Relatively safe mp3s or a Sony rootkit? I won't buy any Sony product that requires me to install their malware on my computer. Gee looks like they want to have to sue their "customers" to get paid. Makes me happy Sony hasn't paid much attention to Mac software development.

X5 1.00 portal for PSP

It works, and looks like the screen shots. Some one must have been playing with an old version.
