GameStop lists Vita memory card prices (start saving up now) [update]

Nov 29th 2011 1:08PM (Joystiq)
Well, everyone said just about everything possible about the pricepoint and whatnot, so I figured the fury of such is well addressed. I joined the Joystiq family back when there was a PSPfanboy hub, and I can't say I've changed much since then---$45 or not, I'm still looking forward to getting my PSV. But I have an idea for other Vita gamers mulling the prices:

I just checked my PSN account to see how much space games like 'Disgaea' and 'FFT: WotL' are taking. With those in mind, I think an 8GB card will be more than sufficient for my favourite classic PSP games, while hopefully getting one or two fave'd PSV games on the card itself. Another way to get gamesize information would be to hit up Wikipedia or a torrenting site. Once you know how much space you want for classic games, while leaving yourself some room for PSN deals on PSV games, I think you can have a pretty clear picture of how much to invest in this (admittedly expensive) exercise.

I have a PSPgo with 32GB of memory (including the 16GB card linked in another comment), and I love it. It's just amazing to bring a game library of real, beloved games with oneself, anywhere. While I don't want to miss the Vita bus, I hope Sony eventually brings down the prices, definitely. Having games like 'Metal Gear Acid' and 'FinalFantasy Tactics: War Of The Lions', or 'ModNation Racers' or 'Neverland Card Battles', with me anywhere, leaves me loving the Go. I look forward to when I can take a similar library of mobile gems with me, via memcard.

All of this on a mobile system? PSP, Squeenix, I stand impressed. Hard not to be "agito"ted by how long we've been waiting for this! Can't wait!

Risk: Metal Gear Solid sneaking out sometime soon

Thank you, Joystiq! You made me aware so I could get my pre-order in—especially critical when there's only going to be 2,014 copies! Apropos to the theme, but definitely underlines the "limited" part of this edition! And almost got trolled by the flash site, since its countdown timer was set to EST—and the USAopoly site set the pre-order window to start on PDT! Too right, "the stealthiest gamers"!

Finally! PS3 Firmware 3.72 arrives, changes everything

Joystiq, you are one of my best sources of information. I did not know that there were Automatic Updates available, and that Sony is withholding what could be a simple customer-service victory hostage within their terrible business PR. I hope you incite enough fires to inspire AutoUp becoming a default feature; as many times as we're compelled to update to access PSN, it's something that just needs to happen. Any other company would have done so by now, save Sony. Sigh.

I checked the PSN price for the GTA4 DLCs before pursuing the Amazon GoldBox deal, and missed the sales opportunity while the mandatory update downloaded and installed. Appalling design. And to think it all could be automated? Quietly frustrating.

Dead Island, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine continue fight atop UK charts

@APCMice Hear hear, APCMice! I have no end of love for Insomniac. I'm seriously surprised to not see them on top—when I got my launchday purchase of 'WH40K Space Marine', I figured 'Resistance 3' was going to do fine without the immediate day1 sales love. Shocking to see otherwise.

FOR THE EMPEROR! (That game is *unbelievably* grand!)

Sadly, sometimes the brightest candles flare out faster than they should. Thank you, Joystiq. I'd be unware otherwise, and I certainly appreciate the brilliant and imaginative impact Takeshi Miyaji left in my life, through his entertaining and classic games.
