Of course, you're neglecting the fact that you can store digital music, digital video, display digital photo slideshows, play PS1 and PS2 games on it, browse the web, install linux, run folding@home, download full games, download trailers, etc.

The xbox learned some of these features by studying what the PS2 had going for it, including the hdd bay and capitalized on it to an extent. Sony knew the value to adding extra abilities to it's console, and MS and Nintendo followed suit.

I did the calculations for the $$ brought in per console:

360 $553,600,000 (at $400) premium
$415,200,000 (at $300) core
PS3 $762,600,000 (at $600) 80 gb

I don't have the exact numbers for prem/core or 80gb/20 gb, but I did the calculation with only core/20gb and only premium/80gb. There's still a much bigger gap, and Sony clearly had a bigger windfall, moneywise.

All that picture is is a pic of a core system, and the pic itself was downsized for effect, and flipped. There is no rhyme or reason for it, other than a design gaff by whoever put that ad together. Notice the purported console has no hdd, yet it retains the same exact design of the core, and it emphasizes corded use.

@#14,Scott, Major Nelson is a ‘Xbox Live Director of Programming’, and I can bring up the 360 if I damn well like to, because he takes every opportunity to bash the PS3 and the PS3 community with smartass postings and innuendo.

I'm not surprised that Sony didn't trumpet this, like many of the minor things it updates regularly. It's not like they have a full time PR whore like Major Nelson to gush about every 25 yr old arcade game that gets released on XBLA. I have a few original XBLA titles, but seriously, stop releasing the old games that really show their age after a few minutes of play.

Spacebutler, if he didn't think it was a big deal, why do you think he brought it up? It's the same thing as the guys behind the Mooninites, they took pics and vids of it, and probably posted some of said pics and vids. Granted, I may be wrong, the store worker might have not done it, but more often than not I go into the local EB's and GS's to find a bunch of pricks behind the counter who try to badmouth whatever console THEY don't like. Hell, most of the time, people come up to the reps and ask questions and I have to answer them because the reps-who have been working there for years-don't know the answer.

I'm betting the guy who "found" the paint is probably the guy who did it, especially with his flippant attitude about the whole thing. If it were not for the Playstation brand, EB and Gamestop would not be where they are today.

God, some of you guys are idiots. The Sixaxis will be used to move around and the mouse will be used to aim (duh!). That will be just one of many options. I'm sure the analog left stick can be used to walk around as well, while using the mouse to aim.

The REAL funny fact for everyone to consider is that Sony's only real competition is the PS2.

Sony is content to bide it's time while it gets the majority of desirable Japan-developed exclusives.
