SNK to wait until 2009 to develop for PS3

Aug 3rd 2006 3:46PM (Joystiq)
I posted this news here yesterday :p

No matter how you slice it... the fact that the PS3 is too expensive for small game developers that don't have EA's bank account (heck even EA had to cut back on workers recently) is baaad news.

Suddenly the Wii and Xbox360 looks better and better to them! :)

Atari CEO: No PS3 games before 2007

See? there is a trend here.

Game developing is becoming too expensive. Starting with those expensive PS3 tool kits. Nintendo was on to something when they created a developer friendly console with the Wii.

MTV VMAs to recognize best game soundtrack & score

To IslandLife:

You DID care! ;)

Random Quotes of the day: “PlayStation 3 will be a huge money loser in the beginning,” said Masafumi Oshiden, who helps look after more than $1 billion for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers Co. in Tokyo. “I think Wii will sell better than the PS3.”

“If the PS3 doesn't sell well, Sony won't be able to recoup the investment in five years,” said Kazuharu Miura, an analyst at Daiwa Institute of Research Ltd. And that, he says, will hurt profitability for much of the group.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion should win.

Regarding the soundtracks, I believe those games don't have what it takes. It's basically the same music you find in ordinary racers/action games.

DS becomes Japan's fastest selling game machine, ever

Aug 2nd 2006 2:30PM (Joystiq)
---"The PSP is already the JRPG depository"---

^^^ Actually, the PSP is the PS2 rehash depository ;)

Try reading EGM magazine. They regularly make fun of the fact the PSP is filled with PS2 rehashes.

In the recent issues of EGM they reviewed several RPG games for PSP. And they scored BADLY. The reason? the games add absolutly nothing to the genre.

Another mayor flaw of the PS2 is LOADING TIMES. EGM even placed in this months edition a URL to a video file where you can see proof of a wrestling game that takes 6 MINUTES to load a match!!!!

Je-eeee-sus!

No wonder the DS is a better buy for any gamer than a PSP! The PSP costs even more than a PS2 these days! :D

DS becomes Japan's fastest selling game machine, ever

And as a result of those japanese sales numbers, Final Fantasy III went to the Nintendo DS instead to the PS2, as was recently mentioned on EGM magazine.

That shows how important is to be a success in Japan. Now if only Microsoft understood that and applied that knowledge to help the xbox360 gain more ground in the land of the raising sun.

Sony PR rep confirms 10,000 PS3 dev kit shipments

Jul 27th 2006 3:37PM (Joystiq)
Yep, Sony has cooked up some good news for their fanatical and extremists followers. They sure are eating up that news on their hands and knees.

It's funny how the sonyfanbots seem to forget that Sony is the same company that made up critics reviews for their movies, used technology without paying for it/or just copying it (thus getting sued over it) and made faulty hardware that consumers have to replace every six months (like Shinji Mikami famously claimed).

But hey, the sonyfanbots need good news every now and then.... let then enjoy this one for once. Because come november, they'll get the biggest screwing of their entire virginal lives. ($600 a pop)

Sega: Ignoring Nintendo "a massive error"

Jul 21st 2006 3:51PM (Joystiq)
. "The way the Wii is being built you have to design for it. Ports and upgrades are no good."

And herein lies the problem.

----------------------

^^^ Actually, there lies the answer to branching out the videogame market. Third party companies know very well what the Nintendo DS did for expanding the market.

Now you have 35-80 year olds (men and women) playing games.

Heck, I saw Brain Training DS adverts on my granpa's AARP magazines. And there was even support from that very magazine to buy a DS and Brain training games. I bet third party companies will support that branching out to new consumers.

And third party companies also know that with the Wii, Nintendo is not doing what they did with GameCube.

The Wii is not trying to offer the same old stuff you'll see on the PS3 and 360 (but with enhanced graphics). Instead, they will ofer unique and innovative experiences. Thus third party companies know they will need to offer exclusive material on the Wii. And since developing on the Wii will be vastly unexpensive (compared to the other systems) it will be easy for them to do that.

Besides, that is exactly what Nintendo is going after. They want third party companies to make exclusive games for Wii.

And ABOUT Sonic Wild Fire? read this:

nuff said.

Rumor: Sony tries to copy Nintendo again

Jul 21st 2006 3:32PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
"cylinder like"? That thing looks like a dildo.

I guess that thing will be quite handy when it comes time for Sony to screw PS3 buyers with the $600 price tag.

That will be overkill, though. The price is more than enough to screw you over.
