If your speaking from a selling perspective...it doesn't matter whether they complete it or not...as long as they buy it.
Ninja Gaiden was considered a success while being considered as 'sadistically hard'. Just don't expect CallofDuty type sales (it is an obscure japanese game after all).
The key with games that like to be difficult now-a-days is if the producers make it hard to break your spirit..a-la Alpha 152...hard by simply throwing more at you...like CallofDuty...or hard to push you and making you look baddass...which is Ninja Gaiden.
Microsoft, especially with the 360, has been extremely reluctant handing out wireless access to the 360 to 3rd party accessory makers. Even Guitar hero started out wired.
Don't be shocked to find a third party, wireless reciever hidden within the packaging, taking up yet another usb slot. Or...the remote it self will be wired...which is even worse.
Why they don't release it on PS3 via bluetooth first and wait for Microsoft to get jealous and cave, is beyond me. I guess they a) Don't believe in their product enough. b) Prefer Xbox Arcade and Microsoft's marketshare c) Hoping to capitalise on the uniformed [parent] gamers for a quick buck....d) all of the above.
Besides it being a joke that fell horribly flat....throw downs are generally Pro Evo matches/tournements against acquaintances, friends or random people, where nothing but pride is at stake.
And yes self-proclaimed hardcore gamers are generally spotty 15 year olds...all part of the quip.
But thanks krs360 anyway for the stark reminder that there are still arseholes on the net, scruitinising every word of every comment; and that my time is better spent working, rather than completely failing at joking in an otherwise useless engadget post (no offence).
Just as toddlers have training potties, newbie gamers should learn how to sit perfectly still while gaming....the earlier the better.
I have experiened far too many people lean into the direction they are pressing. I've been repetedly nudged during Pro Evo throw downs and I sure as hell dont appreciate you jumping every time you're ambushed on Halo 3.
As a hardcore gamer I say this hellish behavior must end.....Gamerox chairs for the n00bs!
With regards to PCs, the public have no idea what a dual core processor actually does besides "process". Instead running on the mantra that the higher the number the better (4GB Ram, 2.4Ghz, 300GB,x10 write speed, 10MB Internet).
Try convincing Joe the Plumber that a 32GB SSD is better than a similar priced 1TB HDD (30x larger) for his family PC. Better yet do it in a normal 20 second TV ad slot...or magazine page.
The HDD manufacting process has been refined to the point where faults are few and far between, space is cheap, and the storage method is pretty much perfected. Tech retailers have no need to jump that ship just yet.

Few games catch that balance.

Nov 24th 2008 10:20AM (Engadget)Apple are not your average high street vendor.

Nov 24th 2008 8:40AM (Engadget)Meanwhile your average high street vendor will always face an uphill battle selling less space for more money.
SSDs are great, they're just not great for business.
