Every time there's a post about LoTRO, I read it and think it sounds good. Then I scroll down and hit the comments. Such hatred for a game that I, and so many others, love. Why is that? Is it the same people hitting each thread? I haven't checked. Is it just the cool thing to do at Massively? I don't understand why.
To anyone that scans these posts and thinks that perhaps the comments afterward reflect either the playerbase or the quality of the game in question, please know it doesn't. There are heaps of friendly players in game that enjoy it. There's a great game there waiting to be played and letting some angry comments stop you from seeing that would be a shame.
I haven't replied to many LoTRO posts because I don't like what has been said in the comments and it feels like there's no place here for someone that genuinely enjoys the game and has great respect for what Turbine does. But, then I wonder if I'm the only one and surely I'm not. There must be players that read these posts and are happy with the changes. Players that are actually in game and not on message boards. Players that find it frustrating when the first comment on each one of these posts is negative.
I urge anyone with a little bit of interest to just jump into the game and try it out. Have a chat with the regular playerbase and explore the world. If the game still isn't for you then walk away and try something else. That's fine. Your not logging in to the game tells Turbine you don't want to play it. We don't need to know that here.
I hesitantly agree. It's great that more people are making games but this is definitely one of those see what you can do learning experiences.
I especially like this quote: "A lot of people get into the iOS scene just hoping to make a buck, but the App Store is definitely not a get-rich-quick scheme. It takes hard work, originality and a bit of luck."
This kind of a game is pretty much the epitome of unoriginal quick buck-ness.
What's with the snide bullshit about people playing this in card form? Seriously, this is a geek/nerd centered website, taking pot shots at fellow gamers does not make you cool and it sure as hell doesn't make you funny.
I've never really understood this community hatred for the LoTRO character models/animations. I've always been fine with them, happy even! Always surprises me how many "Yes, I agree", "I know, right" etc. etc. comments there are after someone mentions it.
I can't think of a better company to work on a Harry Potter MMO if it ever eventuates.

Hopefully what you've learnt in making these first couple games can get you an original game that earns you some dough.
