Feb 28th 2011 2:28PM (Autoblog)The second or two it takes for you to notice and process that their car is slowing down very fast is the difference between a crash or not. The same happens if you have to process the amount of break light being "on"..."oh is that 2/3rds or 3/3rds on?".
Plus a rapidly flashing light naturally draws the attention of the human eye, because you know we all get distracted sometimes while driving.
Red running lights are fine, a good safety feature, just shouldnt be too bright in relation break light output.
I agree with the red turn signal though.

For one, freaking allow car break lights to blink rapidly when heavy breaking is applied...it would cost pennies to implement on cars and would be a huge safety benefit.
