Yes, there are MIDI Guitars, but those are usally a guitar style body, with buttons instead of strings on the fret board, and some type of strumming device on the body. Current software, we are talking about consumer level, has too much latency (delay) from when the note is hit till it is converted over to the corresponding MIDI note. It gets nearly impossible once you throw chrods at it. Not to mention the processor power needed to take in the audio signal, convert it, draw the software GUI, seperatly process the incoming audio with amp modeling and processing the game rules itself, and you got quite a load. I'm not saying it's not possible, technology has to get there.
so how is snapping a controller back not simple? gestures are more natural form of movement than hitting a button. i stopped playing sports games because i have to hit z to hike, x,y,ab to throw the ball, r1 to shake someone off, r2 to dive, or was it L2? this is going to be the easiest game of video game football to play since Tecom bowl with A to hike, B to slecet the passer and A to throw.
i really think that people are scared about how this will all work. but i can say that myself and my two roommates are planning on buying a Wii, one for each of us.
Open world games maybe good and all, but they are not the dominate formatt of game. While GTA is a fun series, it does tend to get old and having "breaks" or "levels" will always be the norm. But that really isn't the point I was trying to make.
But, someone telling me what I should consider an "inconvince" is just a horrid thought, espically with little to no justification. That is my main point.
You know, disc swapping isn't that big of a problem for me. I think we all did that when we played through FFVI, MGS, Xenogears, and many many otheres.
set up a field with two trees, one to the left, one to the right. Give everyone a red dog and a gun with three sheets. Have said dog jump into the field, scare up some dogs and laugh when you miss the ducks as they fly around the space between the trees to about 25 feet about the grass line for about 45 seconds before flying off.
