Concept 'HTC 1' is the phone we wish HTC would make

Jul 12th 2010 11:09AM (Engadget)
*sighs* Um, it's not all that hot.

I think it looks decent, but this thing has several things going against it:

1: it looks too much like an iPhone knock off.

2: No buttons. I'll never buy a phone that doesn't have any real buttons.

3: NO BUTTONS

Eric Schmidt spreading word of an Android-based Google tablet, HP building one as well?

@teiresias
AMEN.

I am sick of Engadget's Android bashing. So Android with its (full) multitasking, widgets, expandable storage, great browser, and open environment isn't suitable for a tablet but the iPhons OS is????

Give me a break.

Mass Effect 2 is on sale at Amazon: $40 on Xbox, $30 on PC

Mar 31st 2010 9:08AM (Joystiq)
Wait for it to hit the bargain bin ($20).

I played ME2 and got bored VERY quickly. Lame story, waaaaaay too many characters, and zero RPG elements. I had to force myself to finish it.

This is from someone who maxxed out ME1. ME2 was very disappointing.

Portal updated with extended ending

Unfortunately, they are also slower than Christmas. Portal 2 should have come out already.

Hop to it, Valve.

'Those Minerals' laments Mass Effect 2 probing in a hip-hop fashion

I have to agree.

I loved ME1 and the pacing and mechanics of ME2 really turn me off. Gun play/combat is poorly done (ammo is a HUGE issue) and the exploration mechanics are a big step back from ME1. I didn't mind exploring in the MAKO at all. That was FAR more interesting than this planet scanning garbage.

I may finish it, I may not. I should not have to force myself to play. Bummer.

Red Eagle and Obsidian collaborating on Wheel of Time

Feb 13th 2010 9:20PM (Joystiq)
These series are completely different. You have obviously not read enough WOT to make an informed decision.

LOTR is a classic story about a diminutive race (Hobbits) overcoming extreme adversity to defeat a powerful force.

WOT is nothing like that. There are no "wave your wand=magic" wizards, no elves, dwarfs, goblins, etc.
LOTR doesn't have any political maneuvering, no inter-dimensional travel, etc. More importantly, LOTR has no Great Pattern, no ta'veren (or anything even close), no True Source, etc. Those concepts are unique to WOT and are what make it so special.

You fail at reading.

I'm bored.

Apple tries for 'adding a contact to a home screen' patent, but Android beat them to the punch

Jan 14th 2010 4:53PM (Engadget)
THIS IS NOT NEW OR NEWS.

I have a G1 and have had contacts on my Home Screen for MONTHS. I can have the contact itself there, or direct speed dial shortcuts. I also have 5 home screens, widgets, and themes. NONE OF THIS IS NEW.

Apple's attempt at a patient is laughable.
