Sex games look to stake their claim

Apr 25th 2007 10:19AM (Joystiq)
"But the industry's lady lumps are faced with some significant humps to get over, first and foremost: Their games aren't sold in stores."

Stores like Best Buy and Wal-Mart don't carry porn movies either, do they? Seems like adult stores that carry adult movies could carry adult games as well. Not to mention online retailers, who usually aren't as selective..

California State Assembly mandates WiFi warnings

Sep 5th 2006 10:27AM (Engadget)
How is this such an intrusion of the government? All they are requiring is that the router manufacturers warn consumers of the risks they are taking. You can still choose to leave your network unprotected if that's really what you want.

QSST, new supersonic jet, will travel coast-to-coast in two hours

Aug 29th 2006 8:50AM (Engadget)
I'm no expert on this, but I think the FAA banned supersonic flights over land long ago, and for good reason: do you really want to hear sonic booms on a daily basis if you live within 30 miles of an airport? This is why no new supersonic jets have been developed in the last thirty years. Technology has only just now advanced to the point where supersonic flight is quiet enough that the FAA will allow it to fly over land. I think that in the next decade or two we will see many more quiet supersonic jets, and the price will come down significantly.

Study: Old people prefer casual gaming to golf, knitting, talking to humans

I got my in-laws (late 50's) Animal Crossing and a GC. They are hooked. My mother-in-law has three avatars. I'm afraid it would be inhumane to introduce her to something like World Of Warcraft.

Whatever happened to American McGee's Strawberry Shortcake?

Rumor: Guitar Hero II on Xbox 360

I hope it's true, the only challenge for them would be creating the guitar controller (I mean, a game with graphics and gameplay that simple should be very easy to port).

Noble Pink DS Lite launch draws crowds in Japan

Jul 20th 2006 3:23PM (Joystiq)
Maybe I have an explanation for the grown men who were in line... I tried to get my wife a Pink DS for Christmas last year (they released a small number bundled with Nintendogs in the US). I couldn't find them in stores, and went the E-bay route. Ended up getting ripped off- I sent the guy $200 and never got anything. But Ebay eventually (2 months later) refunded me everything but the shipping and a $25 "processing" fee. I ended up buying her the Mario Kart bundle just before Christmas.

America's influence on the Super Mario Bros. franchise

Jul 20th 2006 1:32PM (Joystiq)
Everyone seems to forget that it took a while for SMB2 to influence the Mario universe though. The only character from SMB2 included in SMB3 was the Bob-omb. I think only the Ninjies were picked up in SMW. I don't think Shy Guys and many other characters were reintroduced until SMW2:YI.

Now what I'd **love** to see is New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the DS, that is like a 2-decade-delayed direct sequel SMB2 in the same way that NSMB is to SMB.
