While were talking mpg, I'll just throw out there that my mx-5 gets 34 on the highway..

I entered my local AT&T store just now, threw my wallet down on the counter, and proudly announced to the two guys at the first desk that I'd like to preorder a Samsung Captivate. One clerk gave a paniced look to an more experienced-looking clerk, clearly having never heard of it. They told me to go to the next desk, where again only 1 out of 2 clerks had heard of the phone. They told me that they weren't doing preorders for that phone, and informed me that I probably wouldn't need one as I was the only person the ENTIRE day who had even heard of the Captivate. They said "for phones like the Captivate", they usually only got ONE or TWO for the first shipment, then 8 more or so for the next one.

So essentially, AT&T expects to sell only ONE or TWO Samsung Captivates per store.

Considering the iPhone 4 hysteria, maybe that's on-target. One clerk asked me, "what's even so good about it?"

No 850/1900 HSDPA bands means you can forget about this handset if you live in the US, unless you want gimped data speeds.
