Look, I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to other people's feelings. I try to think how the other person must feel, what they're going through, before I make any scathing comments.
But frankly, the disparaging against Ji is downright silly. For all you know, Ji is bisexual or gay or asexual. If you're female, he calls you gorgeous. If you're male, he calls you handsome.. would it be more 'fair' if the two terms were reversed? And since I'm gay, should I feel compelled to be creeped out? His words could be construed as hitting on me as well.
I hate to tell you this, Josh, but the genders are not physically equal. I don't have a vagina or breasts, and they don't have a penis or testicles. This relates to your other comments, because yes, harassment of females exists in WoW - but it exists everywhere else in the goddamn world, too. Men will be men, because that's how they've evolved. It's hardly Blizzard's fault that the playerbase acts the way they do.
When healing, I'd rather make an impact with my choices than just spamming a heal.
I almost preferred Wrath to Cata, because at least in Wrath I didn't have to worry about my mana and I could just spam my heals as I liked. Now all the choices I have to make relate to how much of my resources I should spend, and that's not fun to me.
I'd like to see a cooldown-based healing system in 5.0, even though I know it won't happen. I am so tired of clicking around raid-bars like crazy, spamming my heals non-stop and having to pay attention to a bunch of stats instead of shooting off one or two powerful heals where they're needed and waiting a few seconds.
Short. Succint. Evocative. I craft one, maybe two, solid paragraphs that give a player a reasonable expectation to my character. And most importantly, never butcher a description with a thesaurus - if you find yourself repeating a phrase of some sort repeatedly, fine, but JESUS.. that first description sample up top makes me shudder.
My rule for backgrounds:
Use information that is on the public record, something someone can find through IC investigation in an archive (or something similar). It's no fun giving away your entire backstory in one load, so I let people come to their own conclusons. I give them a tease of history. As an example, my worgen warrior was a prison convict sentenced to death, who escaped during the breakout of the curse - but it doesn't directly say this. Instead, I make reference to salvaged documents that one could find if they investigate my Gilnean for any length of time, that reference to prison time, court documents, trials, etc.
Essentially, the further they read into my provided background accounts for further reading of their character. I make hints to possible connections of documents and other accoutrements. I realize this doesn't work for every character, but it's still a novel concept I try to ascribe.
I don't care about mechanics very much. All I want to do is group with friends, get some loot, and for the first few runs experience some lore and spectacle. I like mechanics to have simple but not immediately obvious solutions, because hammering against obscure or super-precise elements is not fun. It may be to you, but it isn't to me.
Maybe I'm the minority, but I can no longer tolerate healing any longer.. it's still too tense for me to deal with. Wrath broke me from being a healer, and Cataclysm almost shored me up; I enjoyed it for a time, but people can still die really, really fast and in really cheap ways, and unless I'm CONSTANTLY on my toes, I get blamed.
I wish healing would be more (or almost entirely) cooldown-based, and damage intake would slow down.. a lot. Making healing slower would make it a lot more controlled, and give healers time to do something else, or even just look around, while they're healing.. instead of mashing down on the heal keys over and over again.
In addition, I think it'd simply be more interesting. With a cooldown, Blizzard can make spells much more interesting and have much more impact than they currently do, instead of just.. standard heal, quick heal, slow heal, or AOE heal, repeat ad-nauseum.
