LGJ: Pirates are grumpy, underutilized customers?

Jan 14th 2009 8:53PM (Joystiq)
This article makes the assumption pirates have the money for games and are willing to spend it.

"Another likely example is that I would imagine piracy is down on NES/SNES titles available on WiiWare."

I really seriously doubt that.

Personally I think developers should just stop developing for platforms that have massive piracy problems. They have to realize that they're probably losing more customers by making games for a 'wide open' platform than they are making on legitimate customers.

'Bob's Game' dev confines self in Nintendo protest

Hate to say it, but based upon the videos the guy has put up before, he's not up to Nintendo-licensed snuff. He should move his project to XNA or something for developers of his level really.

Free Radical closes shop [update]

Wow, so you're giving up videogames starting today? Well at least you'll have a head start on that whole hunting and gathering thing before most people.

Take-Two revenue up $556M in '08, talks '09 plans

Such a shame that stock values have nothing at all to do with the worth of a company anymore.

With the great depression and the latest troubles, it should be easy for anyone to understand this fact.

Minter: Microsoft 'sitting on' nearly finished Gridrunner for XBLA

I too enjoyed Space Giraffe, but frankly most gamers are too stupid to understand new game concepts. This also works with the article about Mirror's Edge and Dead Space's sales.

Gamers are dumb, they like to play Madden and Wii Play and that's about it. Good games like Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, Little Big Planet, Elebits continue to fail.

Rumor: PlayStation Home hacked

The 'how to mod' is how to use your own router / computer as a server for whatever content you want to put up, so client side.

The other link suggests you can upload data to Sony's own servers, but they aren't responding and it would be a simplistic fix even if it were open at one time.

Midnight Club: LA races into South Central in early '09

I really like the game. The rubber band AI isn't as bad as many racing games, in fact I'm not convinced there is rubber band AI. I am certain the AI can be frustratingly difficult, and I'm a very long-term gamer. To casuals it has to be incredibly brutal.

I didn't even notice the game being any easier in the new patch but one thing always did seem odd to me. The fastest vehicle in the game, the Kawasaki Ninja, is also ONE OF THE CHEAPEST. You need to be able to buy D-class vehicles (or is it A? I forget) but once you can you'll be blowing the AI away over and over. Some challenges require you to use a car or a different class of vehicle, but open vehicle challenges are a breeze with that bike.

Dragon Quest X coming to Wii

"Riiiiiiiiiiight. Been proven. Ok. You clearly like to talk a lot and hear yourself, so maybe you shouldn't go so overboard making it so obvious that you're not the type of person that's worth actually discussing anything with."

As opposed to someone who doesn't even discuss the subject at hand and proclaims the discussion over without even making any point at all? Right.

Great Giana Sisters! Infamous Super Mario Bros. clone cloned for DS

There is a Youtube video of this I saw earlier today. Looks cool in graphics & sound, and looks more fun to play than NSMB for that matter as well.

I'd rather them make a HD port as I rarely play my DS, but I'll check this one out anyways.

Dragon Quest X coming to Wii

Dec 10th 2008 2:38AM (Joystiq)
Obviously the reason DQ8 played like a pretty NES game is because it hasn't moved forward, and that's just the point. Somehow I fantasized them taking a bold step forward, but I guess it's business as usual.

Wii is completely stuck in the past. Wiimote control has been proven to gamers by this point to be basically a big gimmick. Even Nintendo's biggest 1st party Wii games are / would be better played without the Wiimote. The problem is design, online support, hardware, basically every aspect of the Wii is out of date. I'd say Wii itself is more forward thinking than the Dragon Quest series though.
