Miyamoto definitely not retiring, but setting up for his eventual departure

Dec 9th 2011 10:12AM (Joystiq)
@John Z

And before anyone asks, no, not everyone should be allowed to be uploaded into a robot to do what they do best for all of eternity, because if we did that, we'd have two or three billion robots who just sit around all day and whack off.

Miyamoto definitely not retiring, but setting up for his eventual departure

This is why Nintendo needs to get in touch with Aperture Science to see about working out the kinks in that brain-uploading thing. Because dammit, there are very few people in this world who should be able to live forever doing what they love, and Mr. Miyamoto is one of them.

Report: US Vita games will cost less digitally than at retail

@sammo21

The point being that a 40% discount off of the physical copy is not a deal when the physical copy goes up 40% to "compensate".

Report: US Vita games will cost less digitally than at retail

Guys, this is not necessarily something good. If the digital cost is $29.99, and the retail cost is $49.99, then everything that the rep said is factually accurate and consumers are still getting screwed. While I'd love to be proven wrong on this, I'm not holding my breath.

EA relaunches Tetris on iOS with a $30/year subscription (really)

Hands up if you're going to blame Apple for this because it's on the iPhone instead of blaming EA because they developed it.

Fortune Street review: Occupy Mushroom Kingdom

Dec 2nd 2011 1:45PM (Joystiq)
.....considering how much I stumped for this game to come out in NA, I'm more than a little disappointed. However, Nintendo is not exactly one to let a good idea languish-- Rhythm Heaven didn't exactly sell all that well the first time around, but we're still getting the Wii sequel-- and I'm sure than if a second version were released which corrects the flaws in this package, it might be worth it.

Also: Mario Party games can run a little long. I know one recent trip with some friends took on the order of two hours. Amazingly, they were still my friends afterwards, even though I had so many coins stolen during that game....

Xenoblade Chronicles headed to North America on April 3, 2012 [update: it's true!]

Dec 2nd 2011 11:45AM (Joystiq)
Nope, not gonna happen. It's a placeholder from very early on that GameStop just never bothered to delete after the game was cancelled. Which it is. There is no chance in hell that Xenoblade is coming out in North America. None. Nada. Zilch. Zero. It is completely, entirely, 100% impossible.

Now that I've said that, let's let the universe prove me wrong yet again. Because dammit, I want to be wrong.

Mario Kart 7 review: An exercise in fun/frustration

@KenobiEagle Without Split/Second on that list, you're dead to me.

PSN's classic JRPGs: What holds up?

Nov 11th 2011 4:39PM (Joystiq)
@Torticoli
No, I agree with you-- I think it DOES hold up. But if you use the same standards the article used that caused Grandia to not hold up, then FF7 doesn't.
