Activision/Infinity Ward court documents detail ex-studio heads' many, many complaints

Mar 6th 2010 4:07AM (Joystiq)
I urge anybody that is a fan of the Call Of Duty or Modern Warfare brand to not buy any Map Packs or any Full Games in these franchises until West and Zampella get what they rightfully deserve. Activision has done little the legwork that has made these franchises as popular as they have become. These games are the result of creative and hard working people under strenuous and unhealthy conditions. This is another example of money hungry corporate jerks trying to take advantage of a situation. If you are against this kind of thing you should not make any more purchases in these franchises or even from Activision all together until this is properly resolved. Your purchase is a vote and could sway the way the game industry is handled from this day forth. So again I urge all sane minded people to STOP, THINK & NOT BUY! If Activision sees an overwhelming decline in their sales, especially in the Call Of Duty and Modern Warfare franchises I'm sure they will change their tunes. The only reason they had the balls to pull this is they think YOU are stupid. They think YOU will buy mindlessly as long as it says Call Of Duty on the cover. Don't be stupid. Vote with your money........STOP.....THINK......DON'T BUY!

PS3 clock bug squashed; games are playable [update]

Mar 1st 2010 7:29PM (Joystiq)
Who cares about trophies. I'm just happy I will be playing Battlefield tomorrow and NHL10 tonight. Trophies are a waste anyway. Wish I could just disable them off my system, along with all the other things they jam into my PS3 like the Whats New Board and all the un-needed PS Store Icons and PS Home and The Ticker Board in the top right near the time..........let ME decide what I want on MY system. I agreed with an earlier post that said they jam all this stuff on to add sales but neglect the things that we buy this for, which is to play our games. Sony is more focused on using the PS3 as a Digital Sales Hub while we are more interested in using it as a GAMING System. So whoever that dude was, I agree with you bro. They have their priorities all screwed up. PEACE

PS3 clock bug squashed; games are playable [update]

Mike began working at exactly 6:45 Eastern Time...lol I know this cause I was manually setting the time after I powered down my system for a half hour. I thought I magically fixed it, but I then saw everyone popping up online that was affected....lol In any case, were up and running. Thank God, cause I pick up Battlefield at Midnight.

EA Euro boss: Bad Company 2 is 'first strong attack' on Call of Duty

Jan 8th 2010 11:21AM (Joystiq)
I think Battlefield Bad Company is still the most complete shooter experience and has the potential to unseat Call of Duty if they play their cards correctly. When you factor in all that Battlefield offers with the vehicle combat, the soldier classes, the size of the maps and the style of play the core game modes promote it's just more of a true battle field experience. You feel more like the part of an ongoing battle and less of just a guy running around a map fragging wildly. I think Modern Warfare 2 made some missteps with how they assembled the perk systems and you see people exploiting these game balancing failures already with the dual shotgun/knife classes. Some of these additions although they make Modern Warfare 2 fun, fast and action packed, for a person that prefers a little more realism in the mix, it's going farther away from that model. If Battlefield Bad Company 2 wants to win this fight they have to make sure that first, the mics work on all platforms. There is nothing worse than no communication in a tactical shooter, and this was a problem on both Bad Company and BF:1943 on PS3. Secondly they have to offer more variety of game modes, an area in which Battlefield really lacks. They also have to be sure to not try and copy Modern Warfare 2.....leave that task for the Medal Of Honor reboot. If Battlefield loses it's identity and starts to mimic Modern Warfare too closely in any way, it will really disenfranchise the Battlefield fanbase.

PETA joins protest against World at War's attack dogs

Mar 24th 2009 6:58PM (Joystiq)
It's funny how they (PETA) haven't commented on games like Elder Scrolls:Oblivion. There's rats, bears, deer, wolves, lions, all sorts of animals to kill. It seems to me that organizations like PETA are opportunistic in their attacks of popular media, and only do so when they see it as an opportunity to bring publicity to themselves. If a game, TV show or movie gains popularity and stands at the forefront of popular culture and they see the opportunity to slander, they jump on it like a parasite. It's even more ridiculous in contrast to the fact that in the game we are also killing Japanese and Germans, both of which are now allies to our country, and more importantly human beings. But you don't see them crying foul over the game content or over the reenactments of actual historical scenarios in films like Saving Private Ryan. Because that's all they are. Historical reenactments meant to either teach or entertain. The day we remove factual elements from our books, movies, games and any other form of popular media due to the unrefined and ill directed passions of special interest groups is the day we betray the memory and significance of the events and scenarios that have shaped who we have become and how we have gotten here. In summary, SHUT UP PETA!

Double Fusion in-game ads expand with THQ, SEGA, Eidos and Midway

I think that if it fits into the environment, say an urban setting, it can work and I will be able to stomach it. But Sonic wearing Nikes would be horrible....and I don't even play Sonic. It's already begun.....EA Sports games have them......Ads on the boards in NHL, which I don't mind because it adds realism....there are ads on NHL boards. The Dodge Drive Summary on Madden. As long as the ads are worked into the game in a realistic manner I'm fine with it. But do you really think this money will go into the further development of future games or into stock holders pockets.....if it's pumped into the game development and done tastefully, I see no reason to be totally sickened by this movement. But the ads I run across in my Episodes of Qore on PSN do make me angry.
