Chris Bosh Reviews 'Twilight' the Book

Dec 12th 2008 5:24AM (Fanhouse NBA Blog)
Umm, Chris--you're supposed to finish the book before making a book review. Just sayin'.

Metareview: Chrono Trigger DS

Nov 28th 2008 11:15AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
@Kia - I think you misunderstand. This score is a reflection of the lazy effort made by Square for the DS version, and the $40 price tag given. I felt that there was no need to elaborate on the game's excellence--the existing raves would suffice. If the DS version were priced cheaper, I would have given it a higher rating (perhaps a 9).

Metareview: Chrono Trigger DS

Nov 28th 2008 1:38AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Guys, I think the more important point made by aj and Pinkechidna is this:

"Tis a case of rose-colored nostalgic glasses."

I've recently made a review of the game.

I don't want to make it sound like a shameless plug, but I think it's much more objective than the reviews listed above.

Please do read it when you have the time. I'd love to hear what you think.

FCC filing for PS3 updated with white model

Jan 22nd 2008 6:08AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Ahh, so you guys are finally going to get a white PS3 eh? I have the exact same model and I love it much more than the typical black.

Why?

For starters, everyone's got a black PS3. I'm the only one with a white model! Secondly, it's not a huge fingerprint magnet like the black one. You still get the fingerprints, but it's not as conspicuous.

Rumorang: Crysis '1.5' to PS3, not Xbox 360

Jan 18th 2008 1:16AM (Joystiq)
I know I've talked about this bit about Crysis going to the PS3 instead of the 360 before.

Welcome to Joystiq 2.0!

I don't like it. The older design was cleaner than this one. The screen now looks a bit schizo.

Bring back the old one.

Today's shootingest video: Quake Wars

Jun 25th 2007 8:45AM (Joystiq)
While the game’s defenders may have a point, I’d like to remind them that Quake Wars is currently in the beta testing phase. What does this mean?

FYI: Beta testing is the last stage of testing. As described by Webopedia, this phase normally can involve sending the product to beta test sites outside the company for real-world exposure or offering the product for a free trial download over the Internet.

If there’s any good time to put in the eye candy, it should be now.

Help bring Gyakutan Saiban 3 to America

You finished Justice for All only "recently"? What kind of DS fanboi are you? I finished the game 48 hours after getting it on launch day.

Justice for All was great fan service, but it was a disappointment because it didn't have the terrific DS features that came in Ace Attorney.

If part 3 is going to be more of the same GBA controls, then I'm not sure I really want it. The sequel gave me the impression that Capcom has gotten lazy.

No, I'm not content with controls that let me scroll the text using the touch screen. I want to check for prints, examine objects in 3D, spray luminol, all that jazz.

Pokemon hits the 5 million mark

Dec 28th 2006 4:46PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I don't get it.

I have a Japanese copy of the game, and there's nothing new here. I admit, I don't understand all the menus and features, but the core gameplay is the same: Gotta catch them all!

It has terrible graphics to boot.

So why is it selling a combined 5 million copies? I have no idea. Any conspiracy theories?

Calling all bloggers, part two: FAQ edition

Dec 22nd 2006 1:15PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I already sent my application. Is there any deadline that you guys are targeting? We really need to hear if we’re in or not, and the suspense is killing us all. :)

To the editors of DS Fanboy: we would really appreciate it if we get feedback if we're out of the running or are being considered. Please do inform us if the search is concluded. Joystiq has this nasty habit of not saying anything, and we applicants never find out what happened.

It would be appreciated, and it's the professional thing to do. :)

I suggest you put in more game reviews, and please do make it shorter. The reviews in Joystiq drones on and on, it becomes so boring. There's no need to make a detailed report on each feature. So while descriptions of said feature are good, it's wise to keep it brief. Gamers would rather hear feedback.

I recall that EGM never needed a two-page review for a game, terrific or not.
