Valve relaunching Team Fortress 2 as free-to-play title

Jun 23rd 2011 8:57PM (Joystiq)
@Helghast102

the hat aerodynamics are a little off, and the hat controls could be tighter. also, hats don't have very realistic weight. really, as a hat simulator its not that great, its an arcade hat game at best.

serious hat sim enthusiasts will be better served waiting for Hat Simulator 2012 in the spring. I hear they are putting in some revolutionary physics engine to produce some of the most realistic headwear ever rendered on consumer hardware.

Portal 2 Sixense DLC -- and actual Hydra controllers -- available from Steam

Jun 17th 2011 12:20PM (Joystiq)
@Integral - according to the steam page, its compatable with 125 games or some such. seems itneresting. deffinatly will require some kind of "killer app" to get me to drop that kind of money on it. Portal 2 DLC is not that killer app, awesome as it is.

will be interested to see what other developers do with this, if they do anything with it at all.

Dust 514 E3 trailer, details drop into view

Jun 7th 2011 7:39AM (Joystiq)
@ItsameMatt03 I imagine you can enjoy Dust without playing EVE, you will probably enjoy DUST more if you are at least aware of whats going on politically in EVE. hopefully they make the shooty bits good enough that people who aren't at all interested in EVE will still play it.

Dust 514 E3 trailer, details drop into view

Jun 7th 2011 7:35AM (Joystiq)
@dragunrising

EVE is absolutely not for everyone. I've tried to play it a dozen times and never managed to get into it for long. I know a lot of other people in the same situation. nonetheless, I follow the game's politics and news and was really hoping to give Dust a shot as a way to participate.

But I won't buy a PS3 to do it. not putting this out on PC just seems like a bad idea.

Fallout Online's future in jeopardy as Interplay's finances suffer

May 30th 2011 11:31PM (Massively)
@(Unverified) Interplay started making Fallout 3 around the turn of the century, but ran into financial difficulties. as a result, they sold the rights to the fallout franchise to Bethesda, with the exception of an MMO. the deal states that they have/had until a certain date to show progress or release a Fallout MMO (not clear on the specifics). Its not a cash grab. its a studio that made some bad financial decisions pouring too many resources into a project they didn't have the resources for in the first place, because of a contractual obligation to "use it or lose it".

I don't know why every one is standing up for Bethesda on this one, Obviously Interplay made some bad decisions, but they are hardly the bad guys. a big part of their money troubles likely comes from fighting Bethesda's legal actions, whoever is in the right legally, without all the law suits, we would probably have a Fallout MMO by now.

and I would for damn sure rather have Interplay do it than have another fallout FPS. FO3 was good, and New Vegas was better, but the first 3 Fallout games (developed by Black Isle and published by Interplay) are still some of the best games ever made.

Rumor: Leaked Diablo 3 promotional video shows off 'followers'

May 12th 2011 9:50PM (Joystiq)
@DeadInside it was a poorly implemented feature in d2 that no one used. looks like they have taken some pretty significant steps toward making followers more useful this time.

Order & Chaos Online available in Canadian App Store [Updated]

Apr 27th 2011 11:26PM (Massively)
I saw the title and got excited thinking it was an MMO based on L.E.Modesitt's Saga of Recluse series. that would make a great MMO. too bad.

Reports: Obsidian hit with layoffs

Apr 27th 2011 1:12PM (Joystiq)
@Deekman I enjoy AP as well, but If I remember right, Sony nixxed the sequal about a month after release when launch numbers weren't up to expectations. I rember thinking the call seemed premature at best, but buisiness is buisiness, I suppose. unfortunate.

Kick it into overdrive: ARGO Online's open beta starts today

Apr 9th 2011 9:23AM (Massively)
its not the worst MMO i'v ever played, but it does feel dated, and still very Beta. I love the setting, steampunk is pretty awesome, and the backpack&core mechanic is neat. really hope the game itself makes some pretty big leaps forward before release, but i'm not gonna hold my breath.

also, gender locking classes is dumb. the character creator is robust enough, but only having one gender available per class is a pretty bad idea, i think.
