I wonder if they'll throttle the connection if someone is using bit-torrent or "pirating" music.

It's all about protecting the movie and music industry from the "pirates" and stop another wikileaks from embarrassing the government. It's total crap but the entertainment industry owns a big chunk of the government. Obama, Bush, whoever doesn't care about what's best for the U.S. it's all about lining their own pockets.

A man in the middle is VERY possible on an open network. Wireshark and another program or two and you'll see everything that is going between the AP and the end user.
