Dear Esther turned a profit in just 5 hours, 30 minutes

@(Unverified)

Yeah I didn't understand that either, mostly because it was originally a Source mod anyway, so there'd already be a big audience on Steam for it.

PSA: Bungie Aerospace's Crimson: Steam Pirates now available (for free)

@Courtney better question: what are the odds of someone who *doesn't* own an iPad commenting on a story about an iPad game? Apparently pretty high, hah.

To me it's just a silly as someone who only owns a 360 complaining on Wii articles.

Minecraft Adventure Update preview: It's a start

Aug 30th 2011 1:37PM (Joystiq)
@Sled It's one thing to implement a feature in a mod, it's a whole lot more work to take that feature and make it standard in a game that millions of people are playing. There's a lot more bug testing and compatability testing that they have to do that normal mod devs don't have to worry about.

Harmonix's VidRhythm coming to iOS, is more app than game

Aug 15th 2011 7:18PM (Joystiq)
Based on the name and other tidbits, it sounds like VidRhythm could be a lot like CamBox ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1B8I7-4ogU ) which is fine by me :)

GDC: Stardock's Brad Wardell explains the failure of Elemental and how he's making it up to fans

Mar 6th 2011 5:34PM (Joystiq)
@C1 I was at the presentation at GDC. They didn't rush it out to meet a deadline. They were so blinded by the development process that they actually thought the game was amazing when they released it. It was only in hindsight that they realized it had so many issues.

Windows Phone 7 review: the gaming experience

@CaptainProtonX

Just gonna point out that Bejewelled is currently on sale, it's normally 2.99

Trainyard's tale on the App Store

Hey guys, thanks for the mention! Just thought I'd point out that the actual link to the full Trainyard development story is here: http://struct.ca/2010/the-story-so-far

Watch the BioShock Infinite gameplay demo

@ForwardTwo

Um. He's not complaining that it's linear vs. non-linear, he's saying this video is scripted... as in, it's not real gameplay, which is true.

This is basically a cutscene but from a first-person perspective. It's meant to give you an idea of the style of the game... There's no way all the stuff would have worked together so perfectly in a real game with such perfect timing. It's a "simulated playthrough", and it was awesome... Just not real gameplay.

Valve: There was a Portal 2 without portals

Sep 10th 2010 3:09PM (Joystiq)
If you play "Tag: The power of paint" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tag:_The_Power_of_Paint), which is the game Portal 2 is based on, you'll know that the third gel is sticky. The other two gels/paints are a lot better, the sticky one(blue) is just really disorienting and confusing.

LightSquared does LTE and satellite connectivity wholesale, Nokia Siemens to do the heavy lifting (video)

Jul 20th 2010 1:54PM (Engadget)
That video had the worst writing I've seen in a long time: "connect kids... to grizzly bears, live, high def, and hungry" or "make a call far away, from anywheresville", and top it off with "imagine the power that an open wireless broadband network brings to America, and to the World".

Now excuse me while I go download some "Massive Imaging Files".
