Oct 13th 2010 8:01PM (Joystiq)Take some international theory, or international conflict college courses. You'd be amazed at how much of what happened in WW2 isn't "black and white." For example, there are significantly far more people who condemn the use of the A-bomb and fire bombing today than there was at the time. Then again in the Political Science field no one is ever happy...
Medal of Honor devs rename 'Taliban' to 'Opposing Force' in multiplayer mode
Oct 2nd 2010 2:46AM (Joystiq)Yes, but censorship by any means is still censorship. The fact is EA made the choice to protect their profit margins, and they are a business, and we should expect that from them. But it could be equally plausible to imagine a scenario where say... a documentary filmmaker who in no way shape or form purposely distorts information; simply makes a film that shows how the Taliban are viewed by their supporters, and they do have supporters, solely for the purpose of increased understanding, is forced to edit/cut their film or the studio all together refuses to release the film because of backlash from military families who lost relatives in either war disliking anything that might be viewed as an even remotely "positive" view of the Taliban. Or to make it closer to the same, imagine that film maker choosing to edit the film specifically to avoid said backlash. The truth is, in either case, it is a form of censorship, but a significantly more subtle form then outright government intervention; which is why more often than not this form of censorship can be the most concerning. Just a thought exercise, devil's advocate if you will.

-Based loosely on the true story of Operation Valkyrie, a fictional alternate history game where you are a Nazi lieutenant who joins the resistance in a plot to kill Hitler. The decisions you make through the game ultimately affect the outcome of the plot to take Hitler's life, both whether or not you succeed in your plan, and whether or not you live to tell about it.
